The Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion 3.0 Ah Battery (2-Pack) charges faster and works longer than standard lithium-ion batteries, giving your cordless tools exceptional performance and productivity to take on the most demanding applications. The battery has a category-leading charge time of only 30 minutes, so it spends more time working and less time sitting on the charger, and also resists self-discharge so it’s ready for use even after long periods of inactivity. It works with the Makita Rapid Optimum Charger (sold separately), a smart-charging system that communicates with the battery during the charging process to monitor current, voltage and temperature, which helps optimize battery life and deliver a faster charge. The charger also has a built-in fan to cool the battery for faster and more efficient charging, even in hot weather conditions. In addition, Makita’s Star Protection Computer Controls allow the tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating.

Very nice, works great. You can orient the cutter in any direction or change it without using tools. Just lift up the lever on the front. Has a variable speed dial also. The on/off switch stays on without having to hold the button in the whole time.

Would prefer the brushless but this has done the job well and was a free add on item for Black Friday sale. Makita’s warranty is that of DeWalt or Ridgid but the product quality is much better

Oscillating tools are awesome. Love that the same battery works for so many different Makita tools. The quick release for changing blades is really quick and easy to use. It’s heavier than some and lighter than others, but I like the weight. Feels strong, like it’s going to last a long time. I’m turning into a Makita fanboy.
