The Makita Rapid Optimum Charger is a smart-charging system that communicates with the battery during the charging process to monitor current, voltage and temperature. This advanced charging technology helps optimize battery life and deliver a faster charge. In addition, the Charger has a built-in fan to cool the battery for faster and more efficient charging, even in hot weather conditions. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. I am very impressed with Makita’s lineup of LXT tools. I have owned a set of drills, drivers and saws for several years and they have never failed to perform admirably when they were called upon. They travelled with me to Nicaragua three times to build family houses and a church during mission trips. Battery charge holding capability is amazing. I have gone for several weeks before using a particular battery and it has always lasted almost as long as when it came out of the charger.Two months ago, all but one of my Makita tools were stolen from my vehicle and considered unrecoverable by our PD. I have replaced them with another group of LXT brushless motor tools because of the confidence that I have in Makita products.
