It’s lightweight makes this sander easy to use.One problem though is that length of sandpaper should be a quarter of an inch longer to enable clamping ease and less chance of paper ripping.

Easy to assemble and did what I needed it to do!

Initial impressions are mixed. When I first powered it up, it seemed to be running a bit slower than similar palm sanders I’ve used in the past. But the longer I let it run, the better it seemed to perform. I’m hoping this was a situation of allowing the brushes to seat. The overall quality of the assembly is typical of Makita. I also like that I have the option of running it with or without the dust collection bag and that they include a device to perforate a solid sheet of sandpaper to allow the dust collection capability to work as designed. I am hopeful this tool is as durable as all of my other Makita tools – time will tell.

After struggling to get a decent finish on new pine stair treads with my cheap black and decker random orbital sander, I decided to give this finish sander a try. I purchased this one based on other reviews and I am happy to say that this sander does not disappoint. While it does technically have an orbital motion, the pad itself does not spin so there you’re less likely to wind up with swirl marks if you’re careful and go back and forth with the grain. This square pad sander was better for my project because the treads are already installed with skirt boards, so the round pad type sanders can’t get into the corners. Additionally, the dust bag works surprisingly well compared with the old sander I have. You could also hook up a vacuum to the dust port but you’d need to find or make a vacuum hose adapter.Overall, for the price this is a great finish sander and completely removed all the swirls that were left behind by my random orbit sander. I used 150 > 220 grit with this tool.

Works great! Have used it with the bag and also works great hooked up to my shop vacuum. It’s easier to change the sandpaper than on other sanders.

This is my first sander. So far so good. I almost feel like I would have liked an orbital sander better. But I was talked into this one. It has done the job so far.

great sander so far. Most importantly easy to change paper. My old Makita was really hard to change paper due to the small space allowed to insert the paper. Good dust pick up. Relatively quite, but it is a sander. No as much vibration transmitted to your hand. Overall a good tool.
