I don’t use the sander in the traditional way! I put heavy bubble wrap instead of sandpaper on the sander and use the “sander” to attach wool Prefelt designs to fragile silk. I hold the Sander in place for 10 seconds, then move it and continue over the project. I use speed 1 or 2 for the process.

This sander has the perfect blend of power, weight, and balance to accomplish every task presented. I was skeptical of the dust bag at first, however it did surprise me as it captures a good portion of the dust. I hook up to a vac when I want perfection in this department. The sander is fairly priced for a quality unit. I am very satisfied.

Sander is powerful. Unit should come in its own case – both for storage and for storing sandpaper. Also, sander should come with a punch-pad that matches the hole pattern. The pennies this would cost Makita is insignificant compared to the selling price.

This is an awesome machine. I used a 5″ Festool orbital and a Bosch 5″ orbital to sand large pieces till I bought this. I hooked it up to my shop vac instead of using the included dust collector. I made my own sandpaper cutter with screws to poke into the sand paper.
