Yes. I like the sander . Its range of RPM fits my need for sanding “scroll sawn ornaments “. These ornaments are “cut” on extremely thin cabinet grade plywood ( Birch) and some cuts are extremely “fragile” to sand. This is why my selection at low end of RPM rating for this sander fits my need.

The Makita Model # BO5030K 3 Amp 5 in. Corded Random Orbit Sander has made the job so much easier. I am not a pro and can use all the help I can get on my projects. It is a real pleasure to operate. I did not know this, but I have found out it is much better to drop the speed on the finish sanding work. Very easy to do. I made 2 picture frames 21 x 21 and their appearance is much better… The Hook and Lock system is very easy to deal with.

Recently purchased this sander. Had what appears to be an identical Makita which I used for many years. Finally wore it out and replaced it with this unit. I loved my original Makita Orbital Sander. This new unit operates beautifully. I’m sure I’ll get many years of excellent use out of it. The features I like about this model are: the variable speed (can tone it down for more delicate sanding) and the palm sanding design. The models with the front and rear handles are fine for flat work, but to get into corners in cabinets, drawers and confined spaces the palm design works best. it sands so nicely you don’t need the handles.

I bought variable speed random orbital sander for surfboard repairs. The collection bag does a nice job of minimizing dust in the work space, however it needs frequent cleaning to be efficient and the speed must be set close to max. The variable speed is a must to match speed and application. I cannot comment on the durability and longevity as I only used this product a handful of times.
