(Which was strange because I have a Bosch router that I want to be buried with) Anyway, this sander is quiet, aggressive and has great dust collection. If you need a random orbit sander, you wont be disappointed with this one.

Easy as pie to use! I am a female who is inexperienced with power tools, in fact I have always found them to be a bit intimidating; however, I got sick of seeing paint drips and years of badly-applied paint on the woodwork in my 90 year-old house, so I decided to take the plunge. I did a great deal of research into types of sanders, brands, uses, and sandpaper. I arrived on the Makita, mainly for reputation as a brand and good reviews. I purchased several grits of sandpaper and went to work. MAN what a difference a sander makes! I will never sand by hand again. The 80 grit combined with the setting of “5” on the sander has made my doors and baseboards as smooth as a baby’s behind. I had no idea what I was missing. There’s nothing like having the right tool for the job. A word of caution about the dustbag: you must attach it correctly, or expect a good bit of what you are sanding to end up all over the room. Not the end of the world, certainly, but just be careful and save on clean up time. Keep the sander moving, clean out the bag often, and check your sandpaper to make sure you haven’t worn it out and you are good to go.

Excellent quality, well balanced, lightweight, has ll desired features, highest rated of other brands. Best price found w/ case (mfg discount). Only reason I didn’t rate it “excellent” (5 stars) is because the (regular) added cost of the case is too much. Considering it’s just an empty case (no extra accessories: sanding discs, pads, etc.)

I researched all the major brands prior my purchase. Several good competitors left me a tough choice. However, the option of the adjustable/removable handle was my deciding factor. It paid off because I use the handle frequently when control is a must when operating the sander at an odd angle or upside down. Sander works well and is comfortable for me to hold for any length of time. On top of researching what sander meets your desired specs, it’s best to hold the tool and see if it’s comfortable in your hands. I was looking at the DeWalt and Bosch, but when I held them they didn’t feel as comfortable to me, but everyone’s different.
