I got this on a Black Friday special. Didn’t need it now, but will later. As I approached the 90 day return date I figured I better try it SOON. So I opened it, looked again & again, called…and guess what…..They don’t include any sandpaper! That’s real cheap. I am usually impressed with Makita products, but that’s just not right.I did try it. It seams to work ok. Good weight and fit compared to others I picked up in my hand, so…..I kept it. Just thought that was lousy, not including maybe 1-5 sheets with it. That would probably set back the company about 75 cents. But reviews like this….may cost a tad more!

The sander has better ergonomics than any of the other offerings out there. The extra removable-adjustable handle made a big difference, as did the trigger style on-off switch. I did a big job of sanding down a vertical garage door, and the extra handle made a big difference. The variable speed feature came in handy, as did the dust bag, but the other brands also have these. On the negative side, the hook and loop interface for the sanding discs are weak and don’t hold on well. I tried 3m and Diablo discs, and neither was held tightly. The internet said that many brands have also changed their hook and loop design to offer less grip because people were complaining that the older designs gripped the sanding discs too tightly and made it difficult to remove…I would prefer that over having the discs flying off the sander. Otherwise, I would have scored this a full 5 stars.

This sander was easy to assemble. It is light weight but powerful as a sander. I used with course grain sand paper it to removed old paint from the boards on a patio deck. The bag to catch the dust from sanding is adequate but I wish it was larger.

Awesome sander, way better than Ridgid, DeWalt, and Milwaukee ones I’ve used.

The ‘trigger’ grip makes this sander far more comfortable and less tiring to use than other palm-held models I’ve had.Works well, dust collection is also pretty decent.Would buy this again in a heartbeat if anything were to happen to it.

The sander works great. I had an old porter cable dust collection hose that fit the dust port on the makita sander. I just use a hose clamp to hold the hose secure. I especially like the front grip on the sander. The sander is my fifth makita tool and all of them have exceeded my expectations.

While I’ve only owned a few orbital sanders this one is easily the best that I’ve ever used. Power/Performance is top notch and I find myself able to remove more surface in less time. I had seen a few comments about the backing pad being weak yet in my experience I’ve found it to be quite the opposite. The biggest standout for this unit has to be the dust collection. I have been absolutely amazed with how good this unit and its little bag collects dust. Most times I dont even feel the need to connect a shop vac. It’s just that good.

Makita makes a great sander. The front hand grip is a must for any type of finish sanding as one can control the sander very easily. Would never use any other brand as this Makita gets an A++ rating.
