Excellent blades, original quality

Work fine. They should include these as part of the original kit as the ones that come with it break at the first nail or staple they encounter.

I just wanted a backup set for my Makita power planer. I only use this for very rough work

Yeah, it worked. Quit hassling me about it.

Great blades … Make sure you double check the tightness when installing them though … I ruined the first set when I didn’t tighten them enough and they slid out a little, hit the housing, and bent … Ugh. Tighten hard, those little bolts can take it!

I’m not using the blades for their intended purpose on a joiner… My use is for a diy leather splitter … The blades come sharp enough for a joiner but not as sharp as that needed to split leather … One of the elements of of good steel that is well sharpened is that it can be easily honed on finer stones when needed … A 240/1000/6000 group of stones were used in succession for my needs and the steel performed beautifully … Less than 10 strokes on each stone produced a magnificent polished surface … All that being said, I don’t recommend that you do this for use on a joiner unless you have master level skills in blade sharpening … This is very important for matched blades rotating at high speed … Remember that my use is for a stationary blade… Mainly , I want you to know that the steel and factory sharpening on these blades are both very good …

I purchased these blades because I could not find a square-edged furniture scraper, to smooth wood surfaces and remove glue lines. The planer blades work very well for this, and the existing holes in the blade allow a handle to be attached, allowing easier control of the blade as a scraper. I just need to be careful not to dig in a corner of the blade.
