Makita 18-Volt Lithium-ion is the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. At the heart of Makita 18-Volt LXT Series is the efficient Rapid Optimum Charger. The Rapid Optimum Charger offers key advantages for Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion cordless tool users. The exclusive built-in fan cools the battery (sold separately) by forcing air through the battery’s air vents during the charging process for faster charging. The charger communicates with the battery’s built-in chip throughout the charging process to optimize battery life by actively controlling current, voltage and temperature. The result is category-leading battery charge times, which means the battery spends more time working and less time sitting on the charger (note: also charges 14.4-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries).
- Charges an 18-Volt LXT lithium-ion 3.0Ah battery in only 30-minutes

Very slow speed like blade change thou. Will stick with electric version for heavy cutting. Ggood for small cuts.

Tool works well as do all Makita tools I have.I have not used it enough I’m sure, but I did not find accurate depth adjust easy. Also, I bought the plunge base and found very little info on how to use it, the base came with no instructions and the tool manual had minimum description. There were not a manual on their website. I contacted Makita, spoke with a repair person about a manual for the base. He emailed me a PDF with full instructions.

They seem to be lasting longer then the 3.0 I have. Not happy with the charging time, it states it’s a quick charger, but takes an hour to recharge the batteries.

Got this to replace my corded trimmer that burned up. I was shocked at the quality of the build. Very solid but not heavy. Even with the battery on top it is still well balanced. Bit change is easy. Depth adjustment is smooth and stays. Easily the best small router I have ever used. Only weird thing is the on off button placement is not where my fingers would naturally go, but getting used to it.

not a brushless tool

This is my favorite cordless router in its class. This has nice power and paired with Makita’s 5 amp/hr batteries, it lasts a long time. This router is compact, and nicely featured. Do not buy this thinking you are getting the same power as a full-size corded model. Its a great little router, but be realistic in your expectations. It works well for me with aluminum lowers.
