Recently moved to Makita battery platform after two years on Ridgid (it was cheap!)Interestingly this work light is the only item in which the Ridgid platform outperforms. The sealed battery compartment is a smart feature, but cord management is very clumsy. Hard to coil on the cheap plastic hooks due to the thick cable (which would otherwise be a good feature!)Would have been more useful and a more sleek design to leave a simple male port to attach your own extension cable. At 550 lumens I was prepared for it to provide significantly less illumination than the Ridgid Panel Light so I bought two.Turns out three would’ve been necessary to equal the 2500 lumens I was getting on the $83 ridgid. The actual tool benefits of being on the Makita platform far outweigh this minor inconvenience, but it is surprising that Makita has yet to come through with anything even close to competitive in the lighting category.

This LED worklight is RUGGED. The massive power cord and beefy body tell it all. Beyond that, the light itself is blinding. This Makita light far exceeded my expectations. The one and only “down side” is that it is not water resistant/waterproof.

It’s rugged, fairly bright and uses standard Makita 18-volt batteries. I primarily bought it because it’s portable but also like that it can be plugged in and/or attached to a stand. My only complaint is the power cord is bulky and doesn’t stay coiled to the unit. I solved this by zip-tying it since I primarily use on battery power. It would be nice if the cord was removable or lighter weight (LED is low current, so the wire doesn’t really need to be this heavy duty). Overall, the product is study, functional and fits my needs for portability.

Works best for when no electricity is available on new construction sites

This light is very bright for in house and under house (crawl spaces) projects, but is very bulky as well.would rather see this in a compact version for tight spaces. Other than size, this light is sufficient

A very nice addition to my Makita tools set. I’ve only owned it for a month but I’ve put it to good use on projects at home and with the church renovation team. Light weight, convenient to grab for any task around the house or outside, and provides excellent light for aging (“more mature”) eyes. I also like the battery and plug-in flexibility. I have dumped my old hot halogen lights and now enjoy a cool LED light. Very satisfied with this purchase!

Brilliant light, I’ve used it now for working on the car and also at an outdoor convention. The fact it is mains powered as well is an added bonus.
