The 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless LED Lantern/Flashlight is a versatile work light providing ultra-bright illumination and convenience. There are 3 LED Lighting modes: 360 Degree lantern, 180 Degree lantern, and flashlight mode. These versatile settings allow the user to select between lighting a wider area or a specific task or work surface. The fast-charging 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion 5.0Ah battery (sold separately) delivers 11 hours of continuous illumination on a single charge in the 360 Degree lantern mode, up to 23 hours in the 180 Degree lantern mode, and up to 36 hours in flashlight mode. It is fully compatible with Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion series, the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.

This uses the latest 18V Makita battery pack, and lasts a very long time on the charge, see Makita’s description for their estimates. I have this for if or when the power goes out. Lights up an entire room on either the 180 or 360 degree options. I’d like to see a more powerful flashlight bulb with a dimmer and adjustable projector lens – from a flood to a pinpoint beam. And – Hello to Makita,, send me a free one with this flashlight update – that is all I ask for this brilliant improvement idea !!!

I already have 18V LXT 5amp batteries, so this light seemed to be the perfect choice for a handy utility light. We’ve used it for a camping lantern twice and works great. The two flood modes are plenty bright, but flashlight could be a tad brighter. I used the USB charger to recharge my Android phone and it worked very well and quickly. One night of use as a light and charging my dead phone hardly drained the battery at all, very impressive!One minor thing I would improve on would be a “smarter” switch – you have to cycle through the three modes to turn it off, rather than simply holding the button down like on another LED light we have.

I broke a flashlight at work and was punching around online looking for a good replacement. I did find a flashlight but I also ran across this. I already have Makita tools so I figured what the heck….buy this too. Glad I did. The lantern mode lights up our master bedroom enough to see almost everything. It also has a flashlight mode. It will make a great work light when under the car without dragging a corded light under there trying to aim it. This thing lights up 360 degrees. I would also be a great light source to take camping. When we go on an out of town roadtrip I pack a “tire change bag” which includes a Makita 18v impact wrench, sockets and small flashlight. I will include this light as it will stand up straight on the battery and light up nicely in case of a night time tire change. I will caution that the lighting lens piece is long and may be fragile so I recommend it be packed delicately if taken on the road.
