The 14 in. Power Cutter (model EK6101) is engineered for industrial performance yet lightweight at only 19.6 lbs. This compact and efficient tool from Makita is powered by a 61 cc engine with a full 4.3 HP for the most demanding concrete cutting applications. It’s engineered to start easier and vibrate less and includes innovative features like Stratified Air Scavenging (SAS), which recovers up to 75% of unburned fuel to reduce fuel consumption and a cyclonic air intake that discards larger debris for increased air filter life and less maintenance. The power cutter is an ideal cutting solution for metal decking, angle iron, I-beams, cast iron pipe, brick/masonry, stone/concrete blocks, railroad rails, road curbs and asphalt. Blade sold separately.
- Includes power cutter, universal wrench (941-719-140), Torx wrench (940-827-000), carburetor screwdriver (944-340-001), adapter ring (20 mm to 1 in.) (315-228-120)
- Stratified air scavenging (SAS) sends air flow through transfer port to push burned gases through exhaust outlet, recovering 75% of unburned fuel and reducing fuel consumption by 20%
- Cyclonic air intake delivers more air more efficiently and increases air filter life by discarding 90% of larger debris
- Larger surface inverted intake and filter system extends filter life and service intervals
- Start capacitor with spring assisted recoil stores electrical energy, resulting in significantly less pull-start force
- Sliding front engine mounts help absorb vibration by detaching when cutting pressure is applied
- Smaller hub and drive wheel assembly increases maximum cutting depth to 5-1/8 in.
- Multi-ribbed, self-tensioning belt is engineered to provide a more consistent transfer of power
- Low noise at 97 dB (A) and smooth idle for continuous operation
- Clear primer bulb facilitates fuel delivery to carburetor for easier cold starts
- On-off-choke operation switch on a single lever with touch-stop function for convenience
- Aluminum guard and wheel pressure plates reduce overall weight
- Clear fuel tank window provides a convenient fuel level indicator
- Water pressure control knob for more accurate flow rate adjustments
- Vertical filler neck position for conventional refueling operation
- Integrated wrench holder
- 1-year warranty

had to get use to the choke…. and it does not have a lock on speed for start… had to relearn starting protocol

It’s a great tool to have. I don’t do to much cutting of concrete but decided to buy this gas saw for a specific job of cutting out for a long line of pipe below the concrete pad. It made quick work of it. The include hose attachment was great for keeping down the dust level . Well worth the cost .

I’ve only used once so far to cut up some old fence post anchors that I dug out of the ground. Cut through them like butter. The water connection that’s mounted to the saw is honestly a bit shoddy, it sprung a leak after the first use…it still was able to spray enough water on the blade though so it didn’t really affect anything, hopefully the leak does not get any worse. 4 stars, would’ve been 5 if not for the cheap water spray.

really easy to handle, dust free concrete cutting love it

Yes was easy out of the box ! Add gas and the blade !

Very happy with our new Makita. It is ergonomically comfortable to handle and cuts like a dream. So far, some of us are better than others at the pull start.

It is a great purchase compared to other brands. gets the job done.

I got this saw in July hoping for a lighter heavy-duty cutting solution due to back issues (man’s got to work). I was a bit skeptical that the smaller engine (61cc versus the 73 cc in the bigger makita) would be able to deal with everything we could throw at it, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when Ms. Pac Man ( as we’ve dubbed her) dealt with some of the heavier jobs we’ve thrown at her, and she’s been a dream slicing large 5″ thick paver blocks to fit with no lagging or power drops and clean cuts.Out of the box was easy to start and seemed to require less forceful yanking to start. I like how the choke is integrated into the on switch, one less button to deal with. Vibration was what you expect for a gas-powered saw, noise seemed to be lower than the 73 CC but don’t have a viable way to measure that. The increase in cutting depth to 5+ inches was key to cutting the blocks I mentioned earlier with clean cuts all the way through. Personally I choose NOT to use the integrated tool holder, I cringe at the thought of the blade wrench vibrating out and into the path of the blade. Have not cut steel yet, going to buy the cutting blade for an upcoming rehab project we’re working on where we’ll have to cut installed overhead beams, where I hope the lighter weight will make a difference. Still not a job I’m looking forward to, but short of winning the lottery, to paraphrase Sir Pete Townsend, “I’ll Keep on working.” I’ll report back on the steel beam project, also one other where we’ll be jamming to transform an existing sea wall structure.

It works perfect. Glad I went with the makita and not the Hilti

So far great performance cuts concrete /block with no problem only problem is that I didn’t get the pro desk 20% off with this purchase

Great saw for the price.

I have other Makita tools large hammer drills etc. This saw is not a disappointment I cut over 60 feet of 5 inch concrete in less than 2 hours I Evan cut full depth pushing the saw to the limit other then stopping for gas. This saw did not miss a beat it started cold it started right up hot.

Great machine, compact and powerful. The best feature is the sliding motor mount the cuts down vibration. Easy start up and fuel lasts a lot longer.

I like it!!!

I have used several Makita concrete saws as well as competitors. This new Model is much more compact and easy to manuever. The air scavenging features captures unburned fuel so it will run longer before refueling. The new air intake system that keeps out large debris keeping the filter cleaner longer for less maintenance, The coolest feature though now it has a deeper cut depth, sliding engine mount for less vibration, and barely have to pull the cord to start. Makita really listened to people who make a living in Concrete.

Tried a Hilti and returned it. Was garbage.Went back to Makita, starts right up , runs great. Typical Makita quality.
