I needed to replace a 10 year old Panasonic 12v drill. (I decided not to spend $90 for a set of replacement batteries) I’ve used 18v models but for around the house jobs, 12v has served me well for a decade. I wanted a small, lightweight drill and this fits perfectly. It’s over a pound lighter than my old drill, the batteries are easy to take on and off, the grip is comfortable, and it has more power. It runs cool too. I came with a plastic case instead of the cheap tool bags most drills come with these days. My only complaint is why does Makita sell this with the slow charger??? They sell the model DC10SB which charges in half the time as the one included with this kit. All their 18v models have quick chargers and this is the top 12v model so it really should have the better charger. If my charger ever fails, I’ll order the fast charger from Canada. They sell the faster charger internationally but not in USA as of now. Before buying this, I tried Bosch 12v. Nice drill but the handle is not comfortable and it didn’t feel like it had much power, despite what the specs showed. I tried two sets of Milwaukee M12 combo sets, which I bought on sale. They were more comfortable to hold than the Bosch tools but both sets had transmission problems. I really wanted the M12 set since it had an impact driver and an 6mAh extra battery for 99 bucks but I didn’t want to try a third set after just returning two sets already. I didn’t try DeWalt since the current 12v drill comes with 1.1mAh batteries, which don’t have the little lights showing how much power is left, and less power. This Makita was only about 20 dollars more than the other 12v models and has a lot better features. I got it during a sale promotion so it was easy to decide. It has a lot of power and I’m quite satisfied with it so far. I hope it lasts another 10 years like my Panasonic.

This drill has performed above and beyond my expectations. I just needed something light for my tool bag. But it also came with plenty of torque and the 2.0 mA battery seems to last forever.

This was a replacement for my ( very ) old Makita 12 volt which still works fine after years but batteries are dying. This one is very compact and light but still has good power

Caught this one on a nice little sale to augment all the CXT tools I’ve picked up for travel purposes. The power isn’t too far behind the smaller of their LXT drills but with an even more compact form factor. Great power for most around-the-house purposes, I think it’s a great match with their CXT impact driver for a lot of cabinetry and furniture repair where a clean finish is a priority. Use this to predrill and chamfer holes then put the screws in with the impact driver. To be real, even though it doesn’t struggle with 1/2” holes at all, Makita put a 3/8” chuck on here for a reason. Although a light and steady hand can massage it to cut somewhat larger holes on occasion, I would NOT get it if cutting holes much larger than an inch comes up very regularly. Other than that though, this is a fantastic little drill and I’ve ended up using it quite a bit even while I have two larger 18V drills. The compact form factor just makes everything so easy. Great little drill.

I love this drill. It is the perfect size for around the house duties. I’ve used it several times already to drill holes, drive screws in wood and to assemble a few items. The batteries are sufficient for the way I use the drill. It feels durable and has just the right amount of heft. If you’re looking for a solid medium duty everyday around the house drill, this is the one! It’s also a great value with the case and two battery packs. I would recommend.

Sweet drill. Replacement for my very old Panasonic cordless drill that I used all the time. Was sad to see it go but I actually like this Makita better! Powerful, small and lightweight. The only thing that isn’t as good as or better then my Panasonic is the charge time. It was only 15 minutes. But the Makita has a handy indicator to let you know how much battery power you have left. GREAT DRILL!!!!

I went to this drill from a Ryobi. I paid twice the money, but the drill is 5x better. Light, powerful, easy to use, great case. This is a superb drill, good for a tradesman or just a seriously handy homeowner.

This is a nice small lightweight drill with some kick-butt power. I haven’t used it enough yet to know how quickly it charges or how long it holds a charge, but it’s nice to get that extra battery!
