Works OK as replacement for my 2001 Makita 12V drill-driver. But compartments in case aren’t useful for holding bits, with slight change in design would be useful.

Great buy at great price. Already have 18 volt 1/2 “ drive hammer drill for heavier jobs. Gave other 18 volt 1/2 “ to my son and replaced with this 12 volt. Perfect gor every day applicarions, plenty of power and 2 batteries and charger with hatd case was no brainer decision. Comfortable and light weight makes tasks wasy

I was looking for a good basic cordless drill/driver and found it with this Makita. Of course only time will tell how well the batteries hold up but I needed one. Oh and it comes with a plastic case and 2 batteries. Not a bad deal.

I love Makita equipment. Bought this to replace an older 18v drill that wasn’t performing well any longer. Although just a DIY’er, I want a tool that works when I grab it. I love the light weight and the torque adjustment. Good drill at a good price.

Makita is top shelf! This bundle is a great deal. The batteries and charger alone are worth the price. To have the amazingly powerful driver/drill is a delight. Time I can toss the pile of other battery-powered drills I’ve been yelling at finally! Exceptional tool, great way to get into the CTX line!

Home Depot review 2/4/2020 for the Makita 12-Volt MAX CXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 3/8 in. Driver Drill Kit, 2.0 AhReasons to purchase a 12 V cordless drill instead of a commonly available 18 V or 20 V unit: Light weight Maneuverable in tight spotsReasons to purchase this unit instead of other comparable 12 V models: Perceived quality of Makita brand Hard plastic case instead of soft canvas bag Personal preference of ergonomic feel in the handThis drill is appropriate for most household light duty uses. Examples include hanging pictures, light cabinetry repair, installing shelving, hanging curtain rods , and small outside repairs to fencing or decks. This is not a drill for heavy duty use such as drilling in concrete or stucco, installing a deck, installing a fence, mixing drywall mud in a bucket, or a contractor all day usage. The drill uses a commonly found finger tight chuck. The rotating chuck locks in place when the drill is stopped so that the chuck can be opened or tightened with one hand. The maximum drill size is 3/8 inch, and the chuck holds drills snugly at least down to 1/16 inch (the smallest I have personally tested).Ergonomic features include lightweight and compact design, rubberized non-slip grip, ability to stand the unit upright, LED illumination, and metal belt clip. I find the LED illumination distracting since it is a single LED that casts a shadow emanating from the drill tip point. One could cover the LED with black electrical tape if desired.Operational features are similar to most drill/drivers. Two speed selector with a slide switch (low speed range higher torque, high speed range lower torque), variable speed trigger operation in both speed ranges, reverse switch, and adjustable clutch for driving screws.Included are two 2Ah NiMH batteries, slow charger (70 minute charge time for a 2Ah battery), and a hard plastic case. The case has enough room to store a few bits but no dedicated storage areas for anything bulky. The batteries have a built-in battery charge level gauge which is a feature I have not commonly seen in other cordless drills.Optional accessories include a fast charger and larger/heavier 4Ah batteries.Limited Warranty is 3 years. Compared to my previous Makita (made in USA), all components for this one are made in China.
