I have used this products for years in light and heavier construction situations and I have nothing negative to say about it.

Usually I only buy Bosch power-tools. Maikta is my very close second favorite. I have had several Makita tools over the last several decades, and always was happy with the quality and longevity of their products.Same goes for this reciprocating saw – as usual: great quality, easy to use, well worth the price…

The Makita 11-Amp, # JR3050TZ Reciprocating Saw has plenty of power, but at over 7 lbs, it got a little heavy holding it up while kneeling in my crawlspace, slashing out my 53 year-old, 3″ copper sewer system that rotted out. The variable speed is nice to get cuts started and stopped in close quarters, but with no inertial damper, it vibrates like all reciprocating masses. Even with the foot retracted all the way, you can’t utilize the last inch of cutting teeth near the shank. I’m glad I purchased this model without the trigger lock because even with a 6″ fine-tooth metal cutting blade, the tip caught a couple times and “pogo-sticked” the saw back at me, bending the blade while cutting through a 3″ pipe at an angle. I carefully straightened the bent tip with a pair of pliers and was able to finish the whole job with the one blade, but it’s trashed. Understand that reciprocating saws are not precision cutting tools. They are one step removed from a chain saw, but indispensable for demolition or rough cutting work, and sure beats a hacksaw for cutting metal any day. I even bought a 9″ pruning blade for when I don’t want to drag out and gas up my chain saw.
