Works great. Used to cut sink hole for butcher block. Worked better after the shoe was removed.

This replaced a 4.5 Amp black and decker… the Makita has SO MUCH MORE POWER! It also seems to be much more quality construction as well.

The saw is bad a**, and easy to use….

There needs to be a better way to lock the bevel in at 90. Otherwise a typically high quality Makita tool.

I was trying to find info on how to change blade and find out if the front plate can be removed for closer cut please advise.

Assembly was very easy. Handling is very comfortable. Price was great. Blades is something Home Depot doesn’t stock per salesman.

Does a great job at a reasonable price. Many of the features are implemented in pretty basic ways, like the way that the bevel angle is adjusted, but it is quite capable of performing pretty much everything higher end units do. Unlike some of the higher end jigsaws that have dedicated knobs for adjusting some of the settings, a supplied wrench is needed to adjust the bevel angle and to move the base back to allow for flush cuts. The wrench worked fine though and it had no trouble holding the setting. The variable speed dial seemed a bit odd at first as I was used to using the trigger to adjust the speed like I did on my older units (the trigger is on-off only). I actually liked it, though, as I could set it and forget it, not having to worry about the pressure on the trigger for extended cuts. It performs well on both freehand cutting and with a guide. We cut a number of circular wooden plaques out of solid poplar boards using a circle cutting attachment and the results were excellent. Very smooth and easy cutting and the guide holder was rock solid (see pics). Plenty of power both ripping and cross-cutting which is really helpful when cutting circles in wood where you get to do both. The unit does not come with a dust catching bag like a lot of other jigsaws, but has an opening to connect a small vacuum hose. No mechanism to direct air from the motor to blow dust from the blade during cutting appears to be included. Since we use these often to cut delicate veneers, I ordered the optional base cover. It took more than 2 weeks to get it via online sources, but it fit perfectly, stays put and works great. The jigsaw’s case could stand to be a little larger to allow a case or two of spare blades to be stored in it. There’s plenty of space inside to store loose blades, but keeping them in a case makes identification of the tpi and type much easier. It took a bit of practice to get used to changing the blades, since the blade guard seemed to be in the way, but once I got the hang of it, it was really easy and fast. Way easier and far more reliable than some of the older jigsaws I’ve used. All in all, we’re really happy with the performance if this .

Bought this when my Bosch jig saw just stopped running. The Makita provides much better precision control over where the blade is going compared to the Bosch. It provides good control over how fast the cut is being made even though the trigger is just on/off with speed set by a separate control. Overall impression is of a really well-made tool. This is the first Makita tool I have owned. I will end up owning more down the road.

Got this saw last week. Used it for several hours over a few days. Great saw. The 6.5 amp makita really glides through half inch plywood effortlessly and has a nice clean cut. It comes with a blade and hard case. Couldnt be happier with it so far. Now i just wish their miter saws were a little more affordable 🙂
