I picked this up after getting a cheap scroll saw on a large online retailer. It broke in two days. So, I decided to go to my local Home Depot – the tool place – to look for a better scroll saw. The Makita is built solid and makes accurate cuts. I am a Makita guy now. Incidentally, I ordered this online and did remote pickup. Easy transaction and a great tool that fits my needs and common sense customer service that fits the age of the pandemic. Mask up!

This saw works well, cuts smooth and is easy blade change. Pretty quiet smooth running. Not too much in your hand. Would have been nice to come with the square. But it did not. Overall, pleased.

I’m sold on most of the Makita line of tools. This Jig Saw does very accurate job of the intricate cuts I needed to make on a special project. Variable speed and the Cutting Action worked great. The only issue I have is that the saw does not come with a protective shoe for the base.

Almost a great saw! This saw cuts and guide the blade wonderfully — this is so much better than the ancient Black and Decker Jig Saw I’ve had for years. Unfortunately, this saw has a flaw that is more significant than I first realized… It has no light, and for a jig saw, that’s a big problem. A jigsaw places the motor, handle, and often YOU between your cut line and the source of light… Even in a fairly well-lit room, it can often be difficult to see the line or edge you’re using to guide your cut. This is especially true for folks with poor eyesight. Makita uses LEDs on many of its basic (i.e., lowest priced) drills and saws, so my theory is they essentially nixed the light on this model to better differentiate this product from their higher priced jig saw. So, for that reason I wouldn’t recommend this jig saw. I’d recommend either the more expensive Makita with the light, or opting for a different brand that offers a light. Despite the quality of this tool, the lack of a light makes it a purchase I regret. And that’s saying a lot, I have a lot of Makita tools, and this is the first one I’ve ever regretted.

2 things/ the guide safety feature obstructs ones view of cutting on a penciled line and it needed a guide light great drill though for the price

Nice tool – I read many reviews, and have a [green brand] kit of good tools. However, looking at reviews helped me spend double the cost. No major complaints! I’m a constant DIYer/remodeler with projects from clinics, shed building, kitchens/baths, & home additions. This is a smooth cutter. Easy blade changer; Bought a blade kit, cut lots of plexiglass acrylic too(low speed)! Only complaint is that the angle axis rotation requires the Alan wrench(included); but I don’t foresee using it much, so not a big deal. No vibration complaints, I used this off-and-on for 5 hrs! **sadly, I’m upgrading from a 30+ yr old jigsaw. That being said, I would expect this to be better. Haha.
