It features a 6.5 Amp motor that delivers an incredible power-to-weight ratio, with a 2-blade cutter head and 17,000 RPM for increased stock removal and superior finishes. It is equipped with precision-machined aluminum base for planning accuracy and double-edge carbide blades.

I tried another brand but received two faulty units, so then I purchased this Makita. I have other Makita tools and figured this would also be a high quality unit. I’ve not been disappointed. It’s light, easy to hold and cuts well, although it takes a bit of practice to get a smooth, even surface throughout the stroke of the planer.The only thing I wish this had that the other brand did is the ability to switch the sides of the exit stream of chips. That’s very handy when working along a wall and you don’t have the option to go from the opposite direction. That said, this is a nice, reliable unit with enough power for my needs.
