Good unit, own many Makita products but they got a little cheep on this one. As others have complained, Makita does not supply the plastic adapter for a vacuum hose with the unit and the dealers don’t carry it so you have to order one. Dewalt doesn’t supply one either but Bosch does, so if you need to use one on the day purchased with a vacuum, buy a Bosch planer. Would have rated higher if plastic adapter was included

Works pretty good for my purpose, re-building 6×6 retaining walls that have to be tweaked to lay FLAT, and not rock around. Unfortunately, I had to make an extra thirty mile round trip to replace the first one that had been USED, and slightly buggered up by a previous owner.

I suppose this works as intended, but if you plan to use it to plane large, flat surfaces, I would look elsewhere. It works well for shaving small edges but this will not give you a big flat surface. I found a couple uses for it, so I won’t return it, but it was not what I was looking to buy.
