Very Well Made Product

So far this tool exceeds my expectations. Cuts through mild steel with ease and when the fence is set with a precision square the cuts are spot on. Great tool Makita!

This saw is awesome! It cuts 1/4″ thick steel angle iron faster than 16ga tubing. The carbide blade features doubled up teath where the second tooth controls the depth of each tooths cut like the rakers on a chain saw.The base is cast, and so is the fence There is a lever on the side to release the fence which has an adjustable angle pointer. The angle adjustment is very repeatable. Way faster and better then the Allen bolts on competing saws. You can take a thin slice off the end of a tube. Try that with an abraisive saw. The blade that comes with it is unique and works really well.I ordered this saw from Home Depot on line. The shipping was free, and it was delivered in 2 days. I am very impressed with this saw, I think it is the best one out there, and the shipping was super fast.

I haven’t used my saw yet but I have a good amount of experience with this saw and it’s amazing. It’s definitely worth the paying the little extra if you plan on putting this saw to work.

Bought this one after reviewing several units. The base was part of the decision for me, as others did not have the same solid platform. Not to mention the Makita name. I have already built a steel welding table using 2” square tubing, and this unit performed like a dream. Cutting the 2” tubing was as easy as the knife through butter, cutting final piece as good as it did the first one! And accurate / precise! Already lining up my next project! Great purchase!

The saw was easy to line up accurately and works so well. Guess my bandsaw is going to a garage sale

The saw and the blade it came with are amazing. My business is custom automation equipment for factories. I cut steel angle, steel flat and square and rectangular steel tube. Using this saw is just like cutting 2×4’s with a wood saw and just about as fast. I have cut hundreds of pieces and have never had a problem. The chips are collected in a little drawer on the back of the saw. The metal is cold after cutting. The only negative had to do with shipping. The unit came in a cardboard box. No Styrofoam or other packing material inside the box. The box had a dent and so did the saw. Consequently, the blade guard does not (and has never) just worked smoothly. It hangs up and needs to be pushed to close after a cut. The part was bent during shipping. I have asked HD to replace it but never got any answer from my emails. I have not had the time to pursue it with them since the saw does operate and works for me. A little frustrating since I like my tools to be in perfect working order. That said, it is still a very, very good tool.

My husband is very pleased with this saw. It is exactly what he was looking for.

Works very well on Unistrut, and makes a clean cut if you apply light pressure.

Worked great out of the box. I was looking for a cheaper alternative, but glad I went with this one. I use it for it’s intended purpose of cutting metal. Comparing to others around the same price point, this exceeds expectations

Smaller foot print than others considered and a little lighter…. but still heavy and beefy. Cuts very well and the vise is solid. Really pleased with this purchase. I bought this for my business for cutting iron ballusters and the occasional shower door frame.

Cuts fine but there is a bit of runout when blade is just spinning and not engaged in cut. Does not seem to cause bad or uneven cuts, but is a little concerning.

Simply amazing. Clean cuts, cold to the touch. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because it collects only some of the chips.

I’ve mostly cut aluminum with this so far but I’m really impressed. Cuts nicely through carbon steel. Angle changes are super convenient. Typical impressive Makita quality.

This saw is remarkable. It cuts mild steel like a hot knife through butter. I got rid of my abrasive chop saw after using this. Much less mess, straight cut, cool to the touch metal and a lot faster than the abrasive saw. I don’t have to dress most cuts before welding the pieces together. The miter fence holds the settings and the clamp is great at holding the metal. Mine came already dead on for the angles on the miter fence. Why didn’t I buy this before now? The frame is solid and there is no flex. The only thing I wish it had is a laser to show the cut line without measuring each time. Other than that, it is perfect for cutting mild steel. Read the directions and the blade will last a long time. Worth your money if you do much meal fabrication.

Should have bought one a long time ago Works better then I expectedFast free shipping.

Good clean straight cuts. Easy to use. The angle indicator is close but setting with an angle calibration tool is necessary for very accurate angles. The blade dulled after 35 cuts in 4” channel iron. I’ll use cutting wax with the resharpened blade to try to extend its life.

Excellent !!! Product totally different like day and night from the chop saw that I had used before. It took me awhile before I made a decision because of the cost. After I used it I have to say I made a right decision no regret it cut perfect every time and big time saver. Makita is best

So far so good. Only a couple dozen cuts to date, but it is working well. I have only cut mild steel. Cuts include a piece of 12 lb. railroad track (2″ tall track from a narrow gauge train), 1″ diameter solid bar, a 1-1/2″ black iron pipe, and several cuts on 1/4″ thick flat bar and angle. It didn’t like the track too well (slow and lots of sparks), but it cut it cleanly and the cut was cool enough to touch immediately after the cut was completed.Pros: Tight fitting locking mechanism on the rear fence does not allow the material to move while cutting. It took some effort to release it, but I was able to do it just fine without a cheater bar as other have indicated. I’m not a huge fan of the handle grip (and almost didn’t buy the saw because of it) but it has not been an issue in use. It is comfortable enough and intuitive. I love the heavy hold-down (vice plate) screw handle; it moves quickly and holds materials securely. The heavy cast aluminum base feels very secure. Everything on the base of this saw feels stout and capable of holding material securely. The wrench stores on the base which is great so it does not get lost. One other thing I was concerned with was the 12″ blade as compared with the competition. I’m not sure I am really missing anything by not having the extra clearance. 12″ cuts through about anything that I will need it for, and I feel like if there was something bigger in there, a saw in this class would be too small for it. So, I put this in the positive as a 12″ blade will be less to replace than a 14″ blade.Downsides: The chip collector probably only catches 50% of the chips. The rest either bounce out or never make it into the collector in the first place. One issue that this has caused is that metal chips get on the table of the saw. These chips have interfered with the smooth travel of the hold-down. When I was attempting to secure a piece of metal to be cut, the hold-down (vice plate) got jammed on the chips. I had to back it off and clear the chips from the table. After that it moved smoothly again. The saw blade bounces a little when making heavy cuts. Not a lot mind you, but enough to be noticeable. I may try a higher tooth count blade at some point to see if it runs more smoothly. I purchased the saw online through Home Depot. The box was damaged in transit, but they let me open it before I left the store. Nothing appeared broken so I took it home. The only issue with the saw was that the cord was slightly crimped. My guess is that because the chain that locks the saw in the closed position had come loose and allowed the saw to bouncing around in a delivery truck, it bounced on the cord. Looking for Home Depot to supply a new cord. The quick release lever is super easy to flip over to disengage. However, every time I have used it, it takes a couple of tries to get it to actually disengage. I’m giving four stars, but it is probably more like 4.5. I think the lock down chain should have been secured better so that it didn’t bounce off during shipping, and causing damage to the chord. The quick release needs a little fine tuning, and the chip collection could be revisited. Perhaps a slightly wider catch and a curved rear of the catch, sort of like at an indoor firing range, to help make sure all the chips stay in the box??

This saw is simply the best when it comes setting up accurate quick cuts with little to no heat or burrs. The fence and vise wheel are quick setup and are easy to use. These blades are expense so you need to take care. I already made over 200 cuts and blade is still cutting nicely
