Precise measurement and very easy to use.

Works great. Only issue is that it measures in feet even below 5 feet. Instead of reading 38”, it will read 3.15 feet.

Pretty easy to use. Awesome.

This thing works great! I’ve had another brand that flakes out continuously but so far this one has worked every time I’ve needed it. Way quicker than a long tape ro wheel.

The LD050P is a nice distance measure. It comes with the unit, a carrying pouch with a belt loop, and 2 AAA batteries. It will calculate square footage for you, which is a nice feature that many other units in this class do not do. It will measure either from the front of the unit, or from the back. If you measure from the back you can put it against a wall and it includes the length of the unit in it. The unit is not back-lit.It’s rather large for a no frills unit, but is in a very sturdy case and will likely be able to handle getting beat up or thrown around. The default measurement unit is meters. You can convert it to feet by holding the unit button down for three seconds. This is a pain, but you’ll get used to it.Overall this is a nice unit, larger than others that do the same thing, but quite capable.

I was impressed with the product right away upon opening the box. It comes with a very nice carrying case for the device. Batteries were also included which also made me very happy! The owner’s manual comes on a disc, but can be saved to your computer or mobile device for easy reference. The device was extremely easy to use right out of the box even for someone who had never used a laser measure before. You can switch between meter and feet measurement. I have included a picture of mine showing a measurement of 1 foot, 3 & 15/16 inches. So as you can see it is very precise! You can also instruct the device to either measure from the front of the device or from the back of the device so you won’t have to keep subtracting the length of the device from your measurements. Very convenient! The device will also add and subtract different measurements for you.I would suggest this product to anyone who frequently measures rooms etc, such as a realtor. Instead of struggling with an awkward tape measure in someone’s home, you can impress them with how quickly you take measurements with this easy to carry device. It will make you look much more professional. My Cat also loves it.

This is a basic laser distance measuring tool manufactured by Makita in Hungary. It takes two triple A batteries (included) and comes with a nice heavy duty fabric holster emblazoned with the signature “Makita” name. The holster has a Velcro strap on the back which is nice because you can take it on and off your belt as needed without taking your belt off.To be honest, without using the instructional disk it was pretty confusing figuring out how to get the device to take measurements. So far, I’ve learned that holding down the “On” button turns it on, pressing the “On” button once takes a single instantaneous measurement, holding the “On” button down puts the device into constant measuring mode where it will continually display the current distance measurement as you move it around. Pressing and holding the “Unit” button will let you cycle between Feet, Inches, and Meters. Holding the “Clear Off” button will eventually turn it off. There are other features, such as, calculating the volume of a room and measuring the height of something using geometry, however, I haven’t quite figured out how to use them yet.The included paper “manual” is written in literally about two dozen languages, however, all it contains is warnings about not shining the red laser dot in people’s eyes. Really annoying that Makita couldn’t put together at least a basic operations manual and instead forces you to use a laptop or PC. What am I supposed to do if I am out in the field and can’t remember how to use one of the functions of the device? I’m not going to drag a laptop with me everywhere I go.That being said, this device has a minimum distance measuring capability of about 0.53ft. Anything less than that distance and the display will flash “Err”. It is very accurate though, when I compared its reading to a traditional tape measure. When taking a measurement it takes in to account its own length as well, so you can place the butt end against the wall and get a true reading. I don’t have accurate enough equipment to determine what the true accuracy is of this device. For anything less than scientific work I don’t think you can go wrong. My only complaints so far, are the lack of a paper manual and sometimes I have to repeatedly press the “Unit” button in order to cycle between measuring units. Other than those two quirks though it is very well built. I know Makita is “the brand to have” but I don’t know if this unit justifies its price. It is a very solid product though.
