The Makita 10 in. Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser (model LS1019L) delivers large cutting capacity and accuracy right out of the box. With the LS1019L, you will get all the cutting performance you need in a slide compound saw, but with the most compact size in the category for increased portability. With up to 6-5/8 in. capacity (crown molding, nested) jobs like cutting baseboards and crown molding are a snap, but with up to 4-3/4 in. baseboard, capacity, it can cut 4 x 4 dimensional lumber in 1-pass. It’s ideal for fine woodworking, carpentry, general construction, and more. The LS1019L is powered by a 15 Amp direct drive motor with soft start, a key point of difference. This means smoother start-ups and consistent, constant power with no belts to slip or replace. The electric brake provides added convenience. The LS1019L will tackle the most demanding jobs while keeping production high.

Excellent saw so far, dust collection system is great. Only drawback is that the upper fence portion is non sliding and needs to be removed when making bevel cuts.

After some tweaking, I was able to make this saw the most accurate slider I’ve ever used. And I’ve used all of the 12″ inchers — Bosch Glide, Dewalt DWS780, Milwaukee 6955-20, etc. Yes, you lose 2″ of capacity with this 10″ saw vs. a 12″ but that’s not a concern for me. I rate it 4 stars — no 5th star for the reasons listed below.1. As has been noted in many reviews, the saw head does not slide perfectly parallel to the rails resulting in a cut with a concave or convex belly. There are two 4mm allen screws on the end of the rails near the bevel adjustment knob; you can loosen these and stick a board between the rails to twist them one way or the other then tighten screws and test. Should you have to do this on a $600 saw? NOPE. This is the biggest disappointment on this saw and it’s been an issue since the saw’s release for both 10″ & 12″ versions.2. The fences are a disappointment as you have to completely remove them to do bevel cuts whereas most other brands, they slide out of the way but remain on the saw. The Makita fences do not slide.3. The laser is OK but nothing beats Dewalt’s shadow line system. There is no adjustment on the shadow line; it’s dead accurate and you can see exactly where both sides of the cut will be. Makita laser has to be adjusted and only shows one side of cut. 4. Dust collection is OK but could be better. The saw has two dust collection shrouds – one on the saw head that follows the blade as it moves up and down and the other is a large mouth that is stationary. You connect the vacuum to the port on the saw head so collection is very good from there but you don’t get enough suction through the large mouth collection shroud. It seems saws sold in other countries have this reversed where you connect the vacuum near the large mouth collection shroud. Not sure if that setup would be better or worse.5. If you plan on cutting crown in the nested position with the optional accessory crown stops; I would find another way. You have to remove the crown stops and reposition them every time you go from 45* left to 45* right. I kept my old DW716 for doing crown.6. Issues with the saw stand is it’s very difficult to install/remove the saw from the stand as you can’t wheel the stand around with the saw on it. The stand’s wheels are small plastic doodads that are worthless. Do a search on online for WST06 and look at reviewer photos for how to add an axle and some harbor freight wheels to make the stand mobile with the saw installed. I did this and it’s a great stand now.

This saw is compact and can handle most everything at my job sites. I am using it on a Bosch 0 gravity stand with a Ridgid work support stand for long material. The saw was basically perfectly square out of the box. Although you have to watch when you 0 out the mitre that it is plumb, use a little square to double check it is right on. Accurate clean cuts in all mitres and angles I have set it to.

Very precise. Excellent dust collection although the port exit should have been designed to exit out the side instead of straight out the back since the saw is supposed to be designed to keep the saw against or close to a wall, with a hose connected you can’t keep the saw up against a wall. Love the adjustable depth feature. Soft start is also a nice smooth feature. Overall the saw is incredible. It is rather heavy but I think this adds to the sturdy design.

First off, there is no perfect miter saw on the market yet. I think the Kapex and this Makita are the closest to perfection for my needs. Each saw has their strengths and weaknesses, and I prefer the Makita overall. Main reason I went with this Makita is durability and price. The Festool forums are full of stories about Kapex motor failure. $1500 for a saw and possibly $500 more if the motor goes kaput, no thanks. I’d rather just pay $500 for the Makita saw and if it breaks outside of the warranty I’ll buy another and still only be into it for $1k. Festool makes genuinely great tools, but they are not as robust as I like for that kind of money. Warranty is good but w/e.Dust collection is on par with Kapex, provided you have the CFM’s and a genuine extractor, not a shop vac. Heard some stories about the rails being off plane for some folks but mine was set up perfectly right out of the box. Doesn’t have the fine adjustment knob like a Kapex but with practice it’s possible to get pretty accurate by working the bevel tension knob. I like that it can miter 60 degrees either way, and it doesn’t need space in the rear to slide.

This saw makes clean and precise cuts. I have it set up on the WST06 Compact Folding Miter Saw Stand which makes it much more convenient to use for bigger jobs. I am fully satisfied having spent a little bit more money on a quality product that I am sure will continue to perform for a long time.

Space saver heaven! Having the Slade action where it is saves my workshop trailer 13” from rear of sliding action. My old alder needed 13” more room in the rear! This is a must have for anyone that has limited room or wants to maximize their area. Also have all the levers in front is a dream come true! Older models you have to do a “reach around” to adjust your bevel! No more! Must have miter saw

Over all a very good tool. Disappointed that the dust port adaptor did not come with the saw. I had to order it directly from Makita ( they were very nice).

Smooth starts, cuts through wood like a hot knife through butter!!Especially like how little sawdust goes into the air when using a vacuum!Just be sure to use the highest volume vacuum you can get. Really helps!

This miter saw is so so smooth, the slide is so easy and solid at the same time. I love the soft start, let’s you feel like you ‘re in complete control . Precise right out of the box and the blade is tops.

My last Makita compound saw lasted almost 25 years before developing a slight deviation in cutting. This saw is also made VERY well and performed VERY well on my recent custom project. Easy to use and the degrees of use in both directions saved me a lot of time.

Flawless setup and function–great blade with very clean cuts; laser line cutting accurate and a great addition to this line.

This Saw was easy to unbox and get ready for use, it was my first Miter Saw, I am just getting into wood working, and this saw has made it so much easier. Set up was quick and true, I went right to work, and built my first table. Cutting 2X10’s, and even 4X4’s clean and true with ease. I recommend this saw to anyone from beginner to job site contractors.

Would give 5 stars if the lock lever wasn’t broken apon receipt of the saw. Especially since the replacement part is out of stock. I have been waiting for a month to see the new part. Guess I’ll have to call someone again. Out of square out of box easily adjusted. Awesome saw but no locking lever s

Saw is wonderful !Home Depot tracking and delivery leaves much to be improved upon. The poorest service received in years!

I very much like the smooth start. It required a little adjusting to get everything square but seems to keep consistent cuts.
