The Makita 12 Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser (model LS1219L) combines capacity, accuracy and efficient dust extraction in a more compact size, with a unique 2-Steel Rail Sliding System that offers a reduced footprint for operation flush against a wall. The innovative direct-drive gearbox and guard system is engineered for increased vertical cutting capacity of baseboard (6-3/4) and crown molding (8 nested). It will also make 15 crosscuts at 90. The saw miters 0 to 60 left and right, with positive stops at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, 45 and 60 (left or right). The bevel lock is located in the front of the saw for easy access and quick adjustments from 0 to 48 (left and right). The saw is powered by a 15 Amp direct drive motor with soft start, a key point of difference. Direct drive enables smoother start-ups and consistent, constant power with no belts to slip or replace. The electric brake provides added convenience. In addition, the electronic speed control maintains constant speed under load for smoother, higher-quality cutting. This Promotion also comes with a bonus AF601 16 Gauge, 2-1/2″ Straight Finish Nailer.

Upside – Saw came square right out of box. Really smooth operation and very stable. Really like the small footprint with big capabilities.Downside – saw is heavy. Difficult to see lugging jobsite to jobsite w/o a stand w/ rollers. Not my issue as I am retired. Previous reviews bragged @ dust collection & I am not finding that true. Hooked up to dust sucker and still much escapes to bench and saw parts.Note to Makita:. I do a lot of repetitive length cuts for cabinetry – door rails/stiles, face frames, etc. Be nice to offer a length stop feature to attach to the saw fence.End of day – I would buy this saw again.

I have been a cabinet, Furniture Builder & Finish Carpenter for 30+years. I have owned and used Many chop saws over the years. I have been using this saw now for about a month. This saw is big & Heavy, but since it is set up permanently in my shop in a dedicated Bench it basically is perfect for my needs. The saw has great dust collection and works well with just a shop vac plugged into an automatic switch. When I turn on the saw the vac comes on as well. The tilt with locking knob up front is much easier than past models that had the mechanism in the back. The Laser is an added bonus.

I love this saw!! I am still figuring out all of the little nuances of it but this saw is very well made and they really thought of everything when it comes to functionality and quality. I love that it can be setup against a wall and slides toward you. The footprint of the saw is very smart and it can function in several size shops.

Was looking at a Festool – too expensive. Reviews recommended this saw as the most likely competition at less than 1/2 the price.Very heavy duty – quality machine. Dust collector seems to work better than most.

The Makita LS1219L is an outstanding mitre saw. The saw did not need any adjustments out of the box. It seems they worked out the issues when they originally released the saw a couple of years ago. Plenty of power and features make this saw an essential for all kinds of carpentry work. I do not regret purchasing this saw and would do it again. Compliments to Home Depot for their online ordering and ease of pickup at the store.

Great in almost every way but be prepared to align blade to the rails. When you find out it is misaligned ad you most certainly will by cutting from both sides of the wide board you can align it easily by loosening the two sets screws at the ends of the ends of the rails. Stick a one by four between the rails and gently twist them and re-tighten the set screws. Do a standard wide board test cut from both directions and itterate until the overlaps align. Mine was A millimeter out of alignment and I was able to bring it to within .05 mm of alignment.

The saw is really awesome! I love it. The Makita is above and beyond a better technical saw than the Dewalts, Bosch, and other unmentionables. On a rating scale it is definitely higher in quality and precision than the Dewalt – and very similar in execution to the Festool Kapex. The dust collection is a 6/10. They still need to work on the details. My suggestion is to use a formal shop vacuum for extraction over a shop vac. But I would rate this a 10 over any other brand. Last note. The 10″ for some reason feels more refined and tighter. But the 12″ does the real work. And is super precise.
