The 1-1/4 HP Compact Router Kit (model RT0701CX3) delivers performance, versatility and precision in a compact size. With a full 1-1/4 maximum horsepower and three bases included, the kit is engineered for a full range of precision routing applications. The kit includes three bases needed for a range of routing applications. The plunge base has a full 0 in. – 1-3/8 in. plunge depth capacity and an easy-to-use fine depth adjustment with 3 preset depth stops. The tilt base provides routing at different angles with positive stops at -30 Degree and 45 Degree and the offset base allows for routing in hard-to-reach areas and as close as 3/4 in. to a wall. The router accepts industry standard template guides for added versatility. California residents: see Proposition 65 information.

Great product from Makita. I really liked the compact size, the feel, and the smoothness of the spindle motor. The attachments are really cool as well. The downside, the offset base. While this is a cool feature I found a manufacturing defect. The cogged pulley that screws down onto the spindle nose was machined to deep. This caused the pulley to tighten down and hit the spindle housing. I still need to call Makita for a fix, I had a washer that I used to space the cog pulley out for a temporary fix. However, the offset base really helped me out.

A friend of mine let me use his, so I knew it was an outstanding palm router – top-notch quality and feel. This product includes a few accessories like a tilt base that I will probably never use but the kit is a good value.Because of the quality, I recently bought a large Makita router that was not offered with much in the way of accessories, After chasing down the accessories that I need/want, I appreciate the palm router kit that included so many. An excellent combination kit that enables you to do nearly everything one can expect of a smaller hand held router. The carry case is very oversized with LOTS of room for extra bits and such. The only things that could use improvement would be a LED light on the router and making the offset base adjustable for depth.

I ordered this router specifically for the plunge base to be used for template inlay work. I was originally going to order only the router with plunge base, but found this total kit on sale at Home Depot for just a few $$ more. I have owned and used several other compact routers. The Makita is far above most of the others. Power is great. I now use it for almost all my routing except for jobs requiring 1/2″ shank bits. For anyone looking for a compact router I would HIGHLY recommend the Makita.

I love this kit. The collar change out on this is so simple. Only issue I see so far is the clear plastic section on the plunger base is hard to see thru. When you are free handing a cutout its better to use it backward so you can see the cutting head clearly, even though the handles are backward and weird to hold at first.
