The Makita 12-Volt MAX CXT Lithium-ion Cordless 3-3/8 in. Circular Saw delivers power and speed in an ultra-compact size for a range of cutting applications. With Makita 12-Volt MAX CXT Lithium-ion slide-style batteries (sold separately), users get improved balance and ergonomics over pod-style batteries. For added convenience the batteries include an on-board LED charge level indicator. The SH02Z weighs only 3.5 lbs. (with 12-Volt MAX CXT 2.0Ah battery, sold separately) with 1,500 RPM and a 1 in. capacity, so it cuts plywood, MDF, pegboard, particleboard, melamine and drywall. It’s an ideal solution for users seeking a more compact cutting solution with less weight or for applications in tight spaces. For longer run time, all 12-Volt MAX CXT cordless tools are also compatible with the 12-Volt MAX CXT Lithium-ion 4.0Ah battery (BL1041B). 12-Volt MAX CXT Lithium-ion batteries are engineered with a Battery Protection Circuit that protects against overloading, over-discharging and over-heating. It’s part of the expanding 12-Volt MAX CXT series, combining performance with superior ergonomics in a compact size.

Not quite as light as I’d hoped with battery, but well-balanced, and very usable for small- and large- handed people, equally. Currently seems to be by far the best tool of its kind. Combined with driver drill kit to get 2 batteries plus charger. The only minus is how hard it seems to be to get extra batteries (hope that’s temporary). I’m left handed, but this does not strike me as so different than using other, larger circular saws, as far as the sight lines.

Always impressed w/ makita tools, till now. This tool is very light weight, easy to operate. Prob: designed for a lefty. So i cut left handed to see better. If your right handed your completely blind. Looking down on top the blade protective sheild blocks your view. The guide on shoe is all you get. Bottom if shoe is smooth. Slightest move and it’s off mark. Not practical. Must line up blade with cut line. Final: motor housing is long gets in way after your into cut. Must repos your hold. Not good. I plan to return it back to HD!

In hindsight I would have bought a bigger Milwaukee saw. The battery seemed to drain quicker than expected. This saw is a bit less powerful that I expected. It is light and manueverable.

I gave it 5 stars because this is a niche tool that performs admirably. I have had this saw for 1 1/2 years. Its light weight and cuts accurately. The battery has plenty of power and long life. Its most useful for cutting stock no more than 1 1/4 inches. though an occasional 2×4 cabe cut by turning it over. I wish it had a little more depth of cut, but its so much easier than pulling out a full sized circular saw and it’s particularly useful in tight spaces. It does not have LED lightswhich would be a great addition.

I have to say I’m a dewalt fan. But I needed a battery operated saw that was PRECISE. I’ve owned it for a year and It’s gotten me out of so many jams. Long battery life. I didn’t use a battery for almost 6 months and it was still fully charged. Very impressive. today I couldn’t get a counter top made of wood off the base. So I dialed this into the exact thickness of the wood and made several passes. And it worked. Fantastic product!!!! Goes through 1″ wood like butter. Great for sawing through plywood since putting a huge chunk on a table say is hard to do with one person.
