I researched track saws for over a year. If you have unlimited funds, then go with Festool. If you don’t want to spend $200 to $300 more than is necessary, then the Makita is for you. With the DeWalt you can use both sides of the track. I really liked this, but not for an extra $100. The Triton was a good value, but it will not slide freely backwards on the track. That was a deal breaker for me. I have used my Makita many hours now. It has performed flawlessly. I have used it to break down various thicknesses of plywood and have trimmed large doors. The saw did its job suberbly. I purchased the DeWalt clamps. They are cheaper and work like the Irwin quick clamps. The one and only negative that I have with the Makita is the length of the track. I wish that it was 59 inches like the DeWalt. It was not a deal breaker. You cannot go wrong if you purchase the Makita. Do not let the lack of a riving knife keep you from purchasing this saw. I have yet to encounter a situation where a it was needed. Do not wait a year to buy this saw like I did. Buy it now!

This saw is awesome. As a 20+ year contractor, this is a time saver. My main use is for deck edges and deck board picture framing. Smooth (unless you hit those little metal hidden fasteners), Low dust with an aimable blower that you could hook a shop vac up to, PERFECT CUTS!!!

Everything was as represented except the blade wrench was not included. Not a deal breaker, but it shouldn’t be listed and not furnished. Hence 3 stars

I purchased this because the way I was breaking down sheet goods was getting woefully inaccurate. The Makita track saw is reasonably priced and accurate. The scribe feature makes sure you don’t get chip out when cutting plywood. The track is straight and true and I will be buying an extension track for it soon. I should have bought one of these sooner.

Smooth, quiet, easy to use. Really like the soft start. I use it for a lot more than I originally thought I would.

Very pleased. Wish 118 inch track guide had a lower price.

Excellent saw with a super serious straight guide rail. I do wish the increments were in English Standard versus metric, but…. With the quality of this saw and the guide, I can’t justify the price difference to jump the German made equivalent, which is pretty much two times as much.

Saw operates exactly expected. I am amazed at how well it stays put without clamps. I used it on some very expensive walnut and had complete confidence in its performance. This saw is a must have for any master carpenter. I work on mega yachts and the dust collection is amazing! Allowing me to do cutting right on board these multi million dollar vessels. Very pleased! Dont waste your money on festool!

A little research told me that this saw, while not cheap, had the best balance of quality and price among the track saws on the market. It has not disappointed. I’m using it to cut lots of veneered plywood for furniture projects. The cuts are amazingly straight and clean. I gave only 3 stars on value because these saws are all overpriced for what is essentially a glorified circular saw.Hint: If you’re joining two rails, the Festool connectors cost less and work with Makita’s track. The same holds true for DeWalt’s track clamps.

I buddy of mine has a Festool like this, but they are really expensive. I love the fact that I can now cut a perfect straight line with this saw, at a price which is reasonable.Very easy to use, highly recommended.John

This tool is a game changer. I will never have to fight to break down sheet goods on a table saw again. As a small contractor, I work alone most days. This makes me safer and more efficient. Also can purchase a guide to. Go in rails for a router too.

Works as expected. I did a lot of research on track saws and settled on this one based on its reviews in price. It is plenty strong to cut through any material I’ve tried including 6/4″ thick white oak. It certainly will not replace my tablesaw but is a great option for breaking down sheet goods and larger cross cuts. Happy to have it in my workshop!

I wrestled between this and the Festool TS 55 for some time. I have several Festools (dominos and sander) and I’ve been very happy with them. But the price of them always give me pause. In short I don’t bleed green like the junkies. If there is an alternative brand tool that can do the job at a lower price it will have my attention. The Makita SP6000 is exactly that. It is like the Makita engineers took the Fes and used it as guidelines for this tool. It is interchangeable with the Festool guide rail and it plugs right into the Festool dust extractor.I’ve not had it long enough to do a full blown review but these are the things that I noticed right away.-Fairly quiet for a circular saw.-Very light. The magnesium castings really lower the weight.-Decent power. This is not a worm drive skillsaw but easily handles sheet goods which it was designed for. -Pre-cut depth stop is actually quite useful. Something I didn’t think I would use but it assures a nice splinter free cut.-As others have noted dust collection when hooked to a vacuum is excellent. -Smooth. The plastic anti-friction strips on the rail really do the job. This thing glides effortlessly down the track. On the needs improvement side:-The trigger could be bigger. I’ve had some difficulty adapting to the need to push the safety button, plunge the saw, and hold the trigger all at the same time. Several occasions my fingers slide off the trigger and it stalls. It is about 1 and 1/2 fingers wide. Would rather it be 3 fingers wide like the Makita sliding cross cut saw. -Track is a bit flimsy. Of course there is a balance between light weight and easy to handle and being too thin that it deforms. I bought 2 extra 55″ tracks and hooked them together for 8 foot rips and when it is lying flat it is OK but it does feel like if you accidentally hit it during transport it would bend. Something you don’t want on a straight edge. Makita should make it a bit more stout. -Cord attachment should pivot. It comes off the back of the saw a 90 degrees to travel movement. It has one of those big over molded rubber pieces at the connection that just does not flex enough as the saw is pushed through the movement. Creates some pucker factor on long rips and keeping it from not tangling with the dust hose.-Imperial and Metric. I still can’t convert metric in my head quickly. Let’s me see..half inch plywood is 12.5 mm + 1/4″ for the guide rail that makes…humm, 18 mm right? You get the picture. I’m sure I’ll get better with time. Instead I would rather have the depth gauge have both metric and english delineations. I think Festool caved to this for the US market. I used my circular saw on a home made fence/rail for years for cutting sheet goods and it worked great. But this system is definitely a cut above (pun intended). Less dust, easier to set up, cleaner cut. If you’ve been thinking about making the jump to a track saw, do yourself a favor and make the jump. And in this case I saved several hundred dollars over the German Fes.

Best saw ever. So easy and powerful and makes great straight cuts every time when cross ripping a 4×8 sheet of plywood. This tool gives you the utmost confidence that your cut is going to come out perfectly every time

Of the four track saws I own, this is the best value. It’s easy to adjust. And when adjusted properly, it cuts straight, smooth and clean. Unlike the Mafell 55 I have, this has a handle for your LEFT hand. Although the saw can easily be operated with one hand, I like having a safe comfortable place for BOTH hands. My saw was made in the UK. I do not know about others claiming that their saws were made in China. Maybe that’s true of the cordless models, but all the corded models I’ve seen ( and mine) are clearly labeled Made In the United Kingdom. These motors have electronic speed control and soft start. I think that’s why some users imagine these saws are under-powered. Soft starts are not only safer; They prevent excess start-up torque from throwing fine adjustments out of whack. Mine is PLENTY strong enough to cut through TWO 3/4″ sheets of plywood at once. While building fences, this saw easily RIP cut along the length of pressure treated 2x4s. So, it definitely has enough power. It just doesn’t have that extreme start-up jerk that some associate with useful power.Dust collection is quite good; on par with my other track saws. Mafell has the best dust collection, with this, my DeWalt and the Festool all close behind. With the right connectors, I have used this with expensive German vacuums AND my numerous RIGID vacs from Home Depot. They all work just fine. I have no idea why people complain about the case. Mine came with a systainer case which is exactly like the older model Festool and Mafell cases. It connects to those perfectly. And there definitely IS a molded plastic insert that holds the saw firmly without rattling. Perhaps someone got a used saw or lost the plastic insert, but judging a tool by its case is almost like judging a book by its cover. Any problems? Just one small one. The little plastic knob that engages the scoring feature fell off. But I found it and glued it back on. So, no biggie. This model does NOT have a riving knife. That’s OK so long as you mostly cut plywood or well-seasoned DRY lumber. After owning and using this A LOT over seven years, I can wholehearted recommend it. No matter what your budget is, this is a good choice.

This is a incredible tool! It makes cutting large pieces of wood pure joy!! It is dead on accurate and the edges are so silky smooth. My favorite part is the edge guide. You don’t have to use any clamps. Just line it up and then cut. I wish that I had purchased it sooner. The only minor complaint is the depth gauge. It is measured in millimeters. Ugh!So if you are like me and have been pondering purchasing this saw, just do it!! You will not regret it!
