This saw is awesome. As a 20+ year contractor, this is a time saver. My main use is for deck edges and deck board picture framing. Smooth (unless you hit those little metal hidden fasteners), Low dust with an aimable blower that you could hook a shop vac up to, PERFECT CUTS!!!

This saw is a game changer. It is accurate, quiet and feels really solid. The cut quality with the included blade is perfect, I mean really perfect. This saw is worth every penny. I researched several saws until settling on the Makita. Makita tools are really good, I have an old circular saw which I have used on everything including concrete and they just keep running.

Saw was extremely way to set up and use. Great clean cuts. Well worth the money so far. Package was damaged when I received it, but the contents was ok.

this tool is a savior. for cutting down big sheet goods, to fine cuts on finished cabinetry, this is my go to tool. I’ve used the festool tracksaw and i prefer the makita. great tool for the price, plenty of power. the cut this saw produces is so clean, you don’t need to sand and the rubber edge of the track causes no chipping at all. dust collection is amazing, you can cut inside a finished home with a vacuum and have no worries. overall weight isn’t too bad but this is meant to sit on a track. since i got this tool, i find myself using my tablesaw less. favorite way to use this saw is for cutting down doors and cutting weird angles as the track can be placed in whatever degree you want to cut. motor has a slow start so no jerking making it very smooth. hard case that is included is very nice and robust and can be stacked with festool sustainers. only thing i would watch out for is the track as it can get bent in shipping, this issue is very common.

I bought the saw so I would not have to buy a new table saw to cut down sheet goods for some DIY cabinets and beams in my ceiling. I tested it by first cutting some plywood for shelving for my basement. What a good cut and the track worked beautifully. This was my first time using a track saw, so I really had nothing to compare it to. However, when you think about the same blade doing 4000 + rpms through wood, it would not matter if it were a Festool, a Dewalt or Makita, the wood would give the same results. Just buy and pay for the features you want.

Plenty of power and perfect cut. Contemplated buying for a while, wish I would have done it a long time ago.

Several adjustments needed in order to get a decent cut. The bevel was not at exactly 0/90 degrees, causing a slight bevel on all my cuts. Also, the blade was a couple degrees out of parallel with the rail guide on the base causing quite a bit of burning on relatively thin maple stock I had. After fixing both these issues the saw cuts beautifully. The saw left smooth edges and no chipping on maple veneered plywood and (with a blade change) was able to rip 8/4 maple stock.

Of the four track saws I own, this is the best value. It’s easy to adjust. And when adjusted properly, it cuts straight, smooth and clean. Unlike the Mafell 55 I have, this has a handle for your LEFT hand. Although the saw can easily be operated with one hand, I like having a safe comfortable place for BOTH hands. My saw was made in the UK. I do not know about others claiming that their saws were made in China. Maybe that’s true of the cordless models, but all the corded models I’ve seen ( and mine) are clearly labeled Made In the United Kingdom. These motors have electronic speed control and soft start. I think that’s why some users imagine these saws are under-powered. Soft starts are not only safer; They prevent excess start-up torque from throwing fine adjustments out of whack. Mine is PLENTY strong enough to cut through TWO 3/4″ sheets of plywood at once. While building fences, this saw easily RIP cut along the length of pressure treated 2x4s. So, it definitely has enough power. It just doesn’t have that extreme start-up jerk that some associate with useful power.Dust collection is quite good; on par with my other track saws. Mafell has the best dust collection, with this, my DeWalt and the Festool all close behind. With the right connectors, I have used this with expensive German vacuums AND my numerous RIGID vacs from Home Depot. They all work just fine. I have no idea why people complain about the case. Mine came with a systainer case which is exactly like the older model Festool and Mafell cases. It connects to those perfectly. And there definitely IS a molded plastic insert that holds the saw firmly without rattling. Perhaps someone got a used saw or lost the plastic insert, but judging a tool by its case is almost like judging a book by its cover. Any problems? Just one small one. The little plastic knob that engages the scoring feature fell off. But I found it and glued it back on. So, no biggie. This model does NOT have a riving knife. That’s OK so long as you mostly cut plywood or well-seasoned DRY lumber. After owning and using this A LOT over seven years, I can wholehearted recommend it. No matter what your budget is, this is a good choice.

I was debating between the cordless and the corded, but decided to buy the corded one. I love it!

Excellent saw with a super serious straight guide rail. I do wish the increments were in English Standard versus metric, but…. With the quality of this saw and the guide, I can’t justify the price difference to jump the German made equivalent, which is pretty much two times as much.

The saw didn’t fit the case real good. It might be for some people but not for me. I returned it

I worked on building several DIY kitchen islands and cabinets and this Makita system worked beautifully for cutting our plywood sheets down to precise measurements. I had to make a quick adjustment out of the box to fix a slight bevel. But once that was fixed, we were good. Honestly, I see very little difference between this and the other track saws I’ve used. Festool. Dewalt. Meh.. I really think that unless your a true woodworker who needs the “BEST” or “BETTER” brands, this Makita set is fine for anyone who does serious remodeling or serious DIY work. I honestly cant tell the difference in cuts or ease of use compared to the other brands. The only thing I noticed was that Festool’s saw felt a little more solid, more well-built than this Makita. Well, I purchased the extra length of track as well to rip full sheets, and Ive been using this setup for a full year now.. And so far this track saw has been very durable, consistently cutting great for me. So it seems to be constructed good enough. The price is right for this system too. Cant beat it. In the end though, for those of you out there who need a track saw system, you really cant go wrong with any of the ones I’ve used (Festool. Dewalt. Makita). They will all do the job and make your life easier. This one happens to be the least expensive!

Light and easier thumb plunge button than festool…great investment

This is a good product for the price. The plastic upper saw parts are a concern if dropped. The 118 in long track is not priced competitively priced and the delivery charge is expensive compared to competitive sources with free shipping

Excellent. Performed as described. Light and accurate. Would purchase again.

Smooth, quiet, easy to use. Really like the soft start. I use it for a lot more than I originally thought I would.

For years, I’ve used a straight edge and clamps for panel work using a circular saw. My biggest issue was the dust and mess especially when working indoors as some projects require. The track saws in general have much better dust control and everyone points to Festool as the answer. Recently a few others manufacturers have released comparable products and I believe that the Makita is the best of the bunch. I’m averse to Festool due to locked ecosystem of blades, clamps, and the price doesn’t help. The Makita track saw is awesome! I now use my table saw as the support table for cutting big sheets of plywood using the track saw. What I found is that given how simple is it to drop the track and plunge, I now also make most of the small cuts using the saw. A number of complaints here are simply setup issues which are solved by learning what each of the adjusters and knobs on the saw are designed for. I do agree that the saw is not packaged well and that is a shame.I’m using Dewalt track clamps and they fit and work perfectly with the Makita track.

I wrestled between this and the Festool TS 55 for some time. I have several Festools (dominos and sander) and I’ve been very happy with them. But the price of them always give me pause. In short I don’t bleed green like the junkies. If there is an alternative brand tool that can do the job at a lower price it will have my attention. The Makita SP6000 is exactly that. It is like the Makita engineers took the Fes and used it as guidelines for this tool. It is interchangeable with the Festool guide rail and it plugs right into the Festool dust extractor.I’ve not had it long enough to do a full blown review but these are the things that I noticed right away.-Fairly quiet for a circular saw.-Very light. The magnesium castings really lower the weight.-Decent power. This is not a worm drive skillsaw but easily handles sheet goods which it was designed for. -Pre-cut depth stop is actually quite useful. Something I didn’t think I would use but it assures a nice splinter free cut.-As others have noted dust collection when hooked to a vacuum is excellent. -Smooth. The plastic anti-friction strips on the rail really do the job. This thing glides effortlessly down the track. On the needs improvement side:-The trigger could be bigger. I’ve had some difficulty adapting to the need to push the safety button, plunge the saw, and hold the trigger all at the same time. Several occasions my fingers slide off the trigger and it stalls. It is about 1 and 1/2 fingers wide. Would rather it be 3 fingers wide like the Makita sliding cross cut saw. -Track is a bit flimsy. Of course there is a balance between light weight and easy to handle and being too thin that it deforms. I bought 2 extra 55″ tracks and hooked them together for 8 foot rips and when it is lying flat it is OK but it does feel like if you accidentally hit it during transport it would bend. Something you don’t want on a straight edge. Makita should make it a bit more stout. -Cord attachment should pivot. It comes off the back of the saw a 90 degrees to travel movement. It has one of those big over molded rubber pieces at the connection that just does not flex enough as the saw is pushed through the movement. Creates some pucker factor on long rips and keeping it from not tangling with the dust hose.-Imperial and Metric. I still can’t convert metric in my head quickly. Let’s me see..half inch plywood is 12.5 mm + 1/4″ for the guide rail that makes…humm, 18 mm right? You get the picture. I’m sure I’ll get better with time. Instead I would rather have the depth gauge have both metric and english delineations. I think Festool caved to this for the US market. I used my circular saw on a home made fence/rail for years for cutting sheet goods and it worked great. But this system is definitely a cut above (pun intended). Less dust, easier to set up, cleaner cut. If you’ve been thinking about making the jump to a track saw, do yourself a favor and make the jump. And in this case I saved several hundred dollars over the German Fes.
