Wish I would have sprung for this years ago, tried a festool and didn’t see any thing better for that money, if anything this saw cuts deeper, cuts smooth clean and glides on the track with no effort, first cut was 1 1/2″ maple, smooth as glassshe’s a keeper.Mine was packed well and arrived in 1 day

This is an excellent piece of equipment with a short learning curve if you have good experience with circular saws in general. Sawdust is effectively channeled through the port, so attachment of a collection bag or vacuum will keep the work area remarkably clean.

For other reviewers (Oscar and 2inmama) This saw has two adjustment screws on the left hand side of the base to ensure no side to side movement when on the track. Also there are adjustment screws to ensure 90 degree and 45 degree cuts are truly accurate. This information can be found in the owner’s guide.

This is a great saw to have in my tool trailer. Cuts clean and smooth. The soft start motor is a little slow and touchy – You have to keep a firm finger on the trigger or the motor shuts off. I wish the plunge depth was in inches since I have to site the depth when cutting material. I have never clamped the track – the tacky rubber material on the bottom keeps it right in place.

I bought this as a replacement for the Festool rail connectors. It works the same as the Festool version but has 2 improvements. The set screws are clamping against the second strip and the set screws have a hex drive. The Festool screws have a slit and you could slip out of it when tightening. There were no instructions, 5 set screws and 4 threaded holes plus a smooth hole so it may be confusing. A simple sketch could be handy and keeps the guessing out.It also should be mentioned that you need a set of 2. The picture as not clear enough to show it is just one connector.

Very useful, especially in a smaller shop, very good saw. Do make sure to make a very straight and calculated initial cut, because that determines the cut line going forward.Safe cutting!

This is a incredible tool! It makes cutting large pieces of wood pure joy!! It is dead on accurate and the edges are so silky smooth. My favorite part is the edge guide. You don’t have to use any clamps. Just line it up and then cut. I wish that I had purchased it sooner. The only minor complaint is the depth gauge. It is measured in millimeters. Ugh!So if you are like me and have been pondering purchasing this saw, just do it!! You will not regret it!

Had a rocky start (not Makita’s fault…100% HomeDepot), because I’d ordered this on-line for delivery to my local HomeDepot. It took a LONG time to get there, than arrived with a damaged track, which took even longer to replace. I don’t think I’ll try that again. The good- The saw is nicely balanced, love the soft start and the rapid blade stop. Also, the speed control seems to work well, holding blade RPM pretty constant under load. The cut is very clean and approaches the results of my high-end cabinet table saw, band moving the saw down the track is vastly easier than trying to break down panels on the table saw. Also, I no longer have to do rough cut with my vintage circular saw, then clean up on the table saw…the first cut is the finish cut! Results (and features I care about) are similar to a good friend’s vastly more expensive track saw, but at around half the price, so I’m glad I made this choice. The not so good- This saw has LOTS of knobs and the manual is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Thank goodness for youTube videos, which explain the set up and operation 500% better than the manual. Also, all the settings are in metric only, which I never use, so it does require bringing in gauges and rules for set-up. Unfortunately, Makita seems to have a blade diameter of their own, so my favorite blade manufacturer’s replacement blade throws off the settings even further, and pretty much disables the convenient scoring-cut button. Lastly, the track rocks a bit, which seems due to the pads not being at consistent height. That’s not a huge problem (one layer of tape fixed it) but shouldn’t be necessary.
