The Makita 22 in. Electric Hedge Trimmer (model UH5570) combines commercial-duty power and ease-of-use for improved performance in a range of applications. The UH5570 is powered by a 4.8 Amp motor that delivers 1,600 SPM for faster trimming and is engineered for quiet operation and less vibration. The UH5570 has a cutting capacity of 21-5/8 in. L and 1/2 in. Dia for increased efficiency and the 2-hand operation switch is engineered so the motor runs only when grips are held with both hands. Additional ease-of-use features include a large transparent hand guard for improved view of work area and a well-balanced design for increased user comfort.

The quality is good but I found it to be too heavy. The switch on the wrap- around handle is too hard to keep depressed, so your hand gets tired real fast. Also, the tip guard does not allow you to get real close to anything if you want to. Way over priced. I returned it.

This is the most powerful corded model that Makita sells and it cuts through dense vines and Mexican sage easily. Haven’t tried on a hedge, but expect it will do well. A bit on the heavy side but not hard to handle.

This trimmer is a huge step up from the electric trimmer we had before. The 22 inch length is perfect for trimming the sides and tops of hedges without stretching. The power this trimmer packs is fantastic! The hedges are trimmed to a smooth finish in only one pass due to the power and the sharpness of the blades. The weight of the trimmer is decent but not overwhelming so a great deal of the hedges can be trimmed without becoming overly fatigued.I will certainly consider purchasing more garden and power tools from this company.
