The Makita 12-Volt MAX CXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Jig Saw (VJ04Z, tool only) delivers fast and efficient cutting, with a compact design that’s engineered for ease-of-use and maneuverability. With the 12-Volt MAX CXT Lithium-Ion slide-style battery (sold separately) users get improved balance and ergonomics over pod-style batteries. For added convenience the batteries include an on-board L.E.D. charge level indicator. The VJ04Z has a compact and ergonomic design at only 9-1/8 in. long with less weight (only 3.8 lbs. with 12-Volt MAX CXT 2.0 Ah battery, sold separately). The Makita-built variable speed motor delivers 0-2,900 strokes-per-minute, with 3 orbital settings plus straight cutting for increased versatility. It is an efficient and compact cutting solution for a wide range of materials. For longer run time, all 12-Volt MAX CXT cordless tools are also compatible with the 12-Volt MAX CXT Lithium-Ion 4.0 Ah battery (BL1041B, sold separately). 12-Volt MAX CXT lithium-Ion batteries are engineered with a Battery Protection Circuit that protects against overloading, over-discharging and over-heating. It’s part of the expanding 12-Volt MAX CXT series, combining performance with superior ergonomics in a compact size.

The saw is solid but very light-weight. It cuts 2×4 so easily and beautifully that surprises me. Very easy to use. I don’t know whether it has a blower to blow away the dust. But I can see my cut lines clearly during the cuts.

I have not once regretted getting this. Performs great and I’m not sure that I’d notice any difference with the 18v and this is far less expensive. This was my first 12v purchase and have since added a drill and impact to my 12v. I have 8-9 18v tools and now 3 12v. I would recommend to anyone!

I didn’t have high expectations for a 12 volt tool as all the rest of mine are 18 but I needed something that had shorter stroke for what I plan on using it for. I was pleasantly surprised at how effortlessly it cuts. The orbital action is a nice feature as well. Definitely the tool for the job if you need a more precise saw and it doesn’t lack in power.
