It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18-Volt LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the Star Symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

Had a Makita 18 volt impact 4 years old that was slowly getting weaker, tool is used every day. This new impact works extremely well. The three speeds are great, not destroying screw heads or snapping bolt heads. Only negative is that it isn’t sold in stores as tool only.

Light weight with lots of driving force and a really bright on board work light.

My Impact driver is powered by older pre-LXT 18V Lithium batteries, BL1815, which work just fine for my home projects. Drives screws much better than a regular two speed drill. Drilled a few pilot holes in delicate materials using a 1/4 inch hex shank 1/8″ drill. I like this tool!

I have been using cordless power tools for years. In fact, I cannot remember the last time I used a corded tool (think it was my Dremel)? The problem with cordless, is the battery and charger graveyard. Every couple years, the 12V model, gets replaced by the 18V model, which gets replaced by the 19.2V model, replaced by the 40V model, etc. So, it was nice to see Makita increasing the capabilities, by doubling the battery and not coming out with a new battery/charger. This comes with 2 batteries, and is ‘compatible with Makita 18V lithium-ion batteries with a star symbol’.My test run was on my basement floor. Years ago, someone cemented the floor and put in a sump. Problem is, the sump is centered on a wall, which is not the lowest spot in the basement. As the basement fills with water, the water goes around the sump to the other side of the basement. I figured, by cutting a small groove in the floor, I can gutter the water to the sump, and keep half my basement dry, and the other half shallower. This grinder did the job so quickly, I barley drained the battery.A grinder, is an ideal thing to be cordless, but this does weigh a lot (12.57 pounds with batteries), and based on how powerful it is, I would consider the 2 battery model Professional Grade. This is my first Makita power tool, and I am very impressed. I definitely will be adding more Makita 18V’s to my collection.

Awesome! I was very leery about a battery operated grinder but, this thing has power. I bought 2 because my first one got stolen, and I use it enough that I needed another.

I have had mine for some time when my 12v stop on me and I recommend the tool to any one who work every day driving screws or bolts

Love this little but powerful Makita impact driver. Been using it every day on the job for the past month. Drives in anything I ask it to with ease…ten inch lag bolts into pressure treated wood, no problem, and it could break loose stubborn nuts & bolts too. Fits into areas my other impact driver couldn’t. The 3 speed settings are great but to be honest I rarely use them because the variable speed trigger is so smooth. Battery life it great. I never had to swap out batteries on a 4AH, and I use this tool a lot… all day. It’s usually 2 or 3 days before the battery need to be recharged. Yesterday I accidentally dropped it onto some scaffolding about 12 feet down. No issues at all after the fall. Before I invested in the Makita platform I was debating between them and Milwaukee. Milwaukee makes some great tools but Makita is just as good, if not better in same cases. You won’t regret this purchase. All Makita cordless tools are super smooth and perform flawlessly.

This is quite a grinder and cut off saw. weighing about 12 pounds it does the job quick. I so appreciate not having to haul out the portable generator to do some small jobs around the farm. Cut off an old pipe that was in the driveway after we had graded it then switched to the grinder wheel and polished it off. Got a Makita general purpose diamond blade (Store SKU #154599) to cut some bricks to fix my mail box that was hit. This come with a bag that fits everything toss it in the atv and I am ready for anything. Another thing that surprised me was on the charging base was a usb port with a nice cover to keep the dust out so you can charge your phone or in my case play some music on mp3 player while in the garage getting ready

Grinds like a angle grinder should. Safety is number 1, if you are not handy, this is a very powerful tool. I use it when I am redoing rust spots on my car, this one even works beret than my old corded one. This grinder comes with a pair of lithium batteries and a charger. this charger even has a USB built in for keeping my phone or noise cancelling Bluetooth earphones fully charged. The batteries can be used in my other Makita products, can’t have too many batteries!! I always “Test drive” new tools, so I don’t ruin my project, and it worked better than I thought. Everything fits in the carry bag. There is even more room for extra blades, goggles, and mouth dust cover.

This product has exceeded my expectations. Right now I believe, you can get the impact driver with battery for 100$. I chose to buy this one instead because of the 3 settings that help out a lot.

Solid unit. I haven’t used it a ton yet, but so far it’s just like a plug in.

Impact drill works great no problems with screwing 3 to 5 inch screws

This impact driver is very powerful. I used it to build a deck and it drove 8 inch screws with no problem. I have other Makita tools and am very satisfied. The Makita oscillating tool is a beast. It is well worth the money. You can’t go wrong with Makita.
