Makita, a pioneer in brushless motor technology and battery innovation, combines both in the 18-Volt X2 LXT (36-Volt) Lithium-Ion Brushless 7 Paddle Switch/Angle Grinder with Electric Brake. It’s powered by two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries for 36-Volt power and performance and has an electronically-controlled BL Brushless motor that matches torque and RPM to the application. Makita 18-Volt X2 means freedom from the cord, even for demanding applications like grinding and cut-off applications that often call for a corded grinder. Best of all, users can remain in one battery platform, using the same fast-charging 18-Volt batteries on the XAG12PT as they use across the Makita 18-Volt LXT cordless tool system. The XAG12PT is equipped with efficiency features for maximum performance. The electric brake stops the grinding or cut-off wheel in 4.5 second or less for maximum productivity and the Electronic Torque Control turns the motor off if rotation speed suddenly slows or the wheel is forced to a stop. For consistent performance, Automatic Speed Change technology adjust speed and torque during operation. For added comfort the vibration absorbing back handle is isolated from the motor housing for reduced vibration and the soft start feature suppresses start-up reaction for smoother start-ups and longer gear life. It has a no lock-on rear paddle trigger switch and the anti-restart protection is engineered to prevent motor start-up when the battery is inserted with the switch locked on.

This tool last 3 times more than other ones in the market and doesn’t over heat the grinder motor.

I can’t believe I have gone this long without one of these! This did the job perfectly and saved me breathing any nasty particles from my project. It fits on easily and tightens with a nut and screw to stay on while working. I used it on a metal sign to distress the paint and metal to give it an old world look. This made the job so easy and so clean! Attached the shop vac to the nozzle and the entire project was almost dust free. Clean up was easy and fast, just unscrew and vacuum.

I have been using cordless power tools for years. In fact, I cannot remember the last time I used a corded tool (think it was my Dremel)? The problem with cordless, is the battery and charger graveyard. Every couple years, the 12V model, gets replaced by the 18V model, which gets replaced by the 19.2V model, replaced by the 40V model, etc. So, it was nice to see Makita increasing the capabilities, by doubling the battery and not coming out with a new battery/charger. This comes with 2 batteries, and is ‘compatible with Makita 18V lithium-ion batteries with a star symbol’.My test run was on my basement floor. Years ago, someone cemented the floor and put in a sump. Problem is, the sump is centered on a wall, which is not the lowest spot in the basement. As the basement fills with water, the water goes around the sump to the other side of the basement. I figured, by cutting a small groove in the floor, I can gutter the water to the sump, and keep half my basement dry, and the other half shallower. This grinder did the job so quickly, I barley drained the battery.A grinder, is an ideal thing to be cordless, but this does weigh a lot (12.57 pounds with batteries), and based on how powerful it is, I would consider the 2 battery model Professional Grade. This is my first Makita power tool, and I am very impressed. I definitely will be adding more Makita 18V’s to my collection.

Used this after removing old tile and to help remove the adhesive from the concrete and it worked great. Smoothed out the rough surface also. Well worth the money.

If you are looking for a powerhouse of a grinder for a professional environment, you just found it. The new Makita LXT cuts or grind anything you throw at it, and the build of this tool is extremely impressiveContents of the Kit:Fist off, you get (2) 5.0 AH batteries in this kit, as you will need both to operate the grinder. The duel battery charger is also a huge plus, as you can charge both batteries at the same time. You also get two different guards, handle, grinding disk, changing wrench, cutting disk, metal flange and a very nice carry case. Build quality:This grinder is built to handle any environment that you use it in. Every moving part is made of metal, (NOT PLASTIC) and is very comfortable in the hand. It is a bit heavy at around 13lbs, but that’s what you want in a tool like this. Even the guards are made from thick steel that will take much abuse. Power: I can say that I have never used a tool with so much power in my life. At 7,800 RPM (36V), I can cut through concrete with little to no effort. Even though there is an indicator light on the tool to alert you of load/overheating, I felt no resistance or slowing down while cutting. When you squeeze the start lever, you can feel the torque in your hand (impressive) Batteries,As for the batteries, they are the 5.0AH, and last a very long time. They are protected buy a welded metal roll cage to protect them from damage incase you drop the tool. They take about 40 minutes to charge, but they do last a long time even with heavy use. The other nice thing is that you can use these batteries on many other Makita tools, so that’s a big plus. Cool features:I love that this has an electric stop on it. The blades/disk/wire wheels stop immediately once you let go of the trigger. The guards are also very easy to change out and tighten, as the main guard hand a nice tightening lever on it. The grinder also has a removable air filter that can be cleaned out when it’s dirty, and the fact that it’s brushless is the cherry on the cake. Summary,Listen, this Makita Angle Grinder Kit is unbelievable. The power, build and all around ingenuity that they put into this tool is second to non. Try it and see for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

Good product for grinding down or taking the edge off a crack in cement.

works well if you use it completely flat and with plenty of water. Had zero issues grinding rough patches on finished concrete. A little pricey but it will continue onto the couple of jobs. Ridgid makes one as well that is about 20-30$ cheaper. I have yet to try it.

This is quite a grinder and cut off saw. weighing about 12 pounds it does the job quick. I so appreciate not having to haul out the portable generator to do some small jobs around the farm. Cut off an old pipe that was in the driveway after we had graded it then switched to the grinder wheel and polished it off. Got a Makita general purpose diamond blade (Store SKU #154599) to cut some bricks to fix my mail box that was hit. This come with a bag that fits everything toss it in the atv and I am ready for anything. Another thing that surprised me was on the charging base was a usb port with a nice cover to keep the dust out so you can charge your phone or in my case play some music on mp3 player while in the garage getting ready

I grind down a lot of curb trip hazards. I first bought the Ridgid cupped blade, and it is total garbage. It only bounces and destroys your body with all the energy it takes to hold it down. Hours of this. Total body soreness, and I do this kind of work all the time. This Makita blade practically hugs the surface, and takes no effort to grind down the concrete. It is $14 dollars more than the Ridgid, and I will pay it all day long. You are crazy if you don’t. It is so superior to the other blades.

I can’t speak for the other blades but this one is worth its weight in platinum. My situation was that I removed 425 sq ft of tile that was on top of plywood, so as anyone who’s done this knows: the thin set stayed put (the majority of it). I used to remove the remaining thin set with an SDS rotary hammer drill or by scraper and or hammer. I knew there had to be a better way. I purchase a 7” angle grinder, this awesome blade, and a dust shroud and went to work. My blade barely wore down. I held the angle grinder flat and square to the plywood surface and this worked GREAT. My advice is to keep a close eye on the dust shroud. Mine came loose at the very end and the blade ate it up. Just remember, I got through a kitchen, hallway, coat closet, half bath, a pantry, and a dining room.

I have now had this 7″ grinder for approximately six months. In first looking at the description you may think this is just an 18 volt 7″ grinder, but read on, it’s two 18 volt batteries combined to equal 36 volts. Grab hold this tool is approx. 10 plus pounds including the two batteries and has a lot of torque. This is a high tech tool from the batteries, dual port (fan cooled) charger and the electronically-controlled brushless motor. It is also muti.- functional, it will except everything from a 1/16″ cut off wheel, 1/4″ grinding wheel, abrasive disk, wire wheel or wire cup brush or a diamond (wet/dry) cut off wheel. The kit comes with a thin cut off wheel and a grinding wheel. As a bonus, Makita (A big Thank You) sent a 7″ (wet/dry) segmented diamond cutting blade, which I have used most of all. In the last six months I have installed over 100- 16″ x 16″ x 2″ paver blocks and approx. 40- 20″ x 20″ x 2″ patio blocks. I can’t say how many lineal feet I have cut, but the blade seems to be cutting the same as the very first cut. The included carrying case is a welcome and needed feature too. While it holds the 10 plus components that come with the tool there is plenty of room for additional items or accessories. A little trick I have learned is to make copies of the owners manuals and put them in a sealed freezer bag in the case. If you are in the trades, at least get a copy of the owners manual and read thru it, you will see all the options, to many to list, this tool has. And then you will want one, but not mine.

Purchased this Cup Wheel to remove glue that was left after pulling up some carpet. We did strip the glue as best we could and then ground the whole floor with this. It is an amazing tool for smoothing out concrete and making it look new again. We smoothed about 250 sf of concrete with this and it looks about half used up. Could probably do 400 – 500 sf of concrete. Oh, make sure to wear a good quality mask and goggles!
