Makita, a pioneer in brushless motor technology and battery innovation, combines both in the 18-Volt X2 LXT (36-Volt) Lithium-Ion Brushless 7 Paddle Switch/Angle Grinder with Electric Brake. It’s powered by two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries for 36-Volt power and performance and has an electronically-controlled BL Brushless motor that matches torque and RPM to the application. Makita 18-Volt X2 means freedom from the cord, even for demanding applications like grinding and cut-off applications that often call for a corded grinder. Best of all, users can remain in one battery platform, using the same fast-charging 18-Volt batteries on the XAG12PT as they use across the Makita 18-Volt LXT cordless tool system. The XAG12PT is equipped with efficiency features for maximum performance. The electric brake stops the grinding or cut-off wheel in 4.5 second or less for maximum productivity and the Electronic Torque Control turns the motor off if rotation speed suddenly slows or the wheel is forced to a stop. For consistent performance, Automatic Speed Change technology adjust speed and torque during operation. For added comfort the vibration absorbing back handle is isolated from the motor housing for reduced vibration and the soft start feature suppresses start-up reaction for smoother start-ups and longer gear life. It has a no lock-on rear paddle trigger switch and the anti-restart protection is engineered to prevent motor start-up when the battery is inserted with the switch locked on.

As mentioned by others it is not deep enough when using the diamond grinding wheel for grout. Duct tape and cardboard addressed this issue and it worked great. I did not have dust until I had to remove the edging piece.

Used it for 2 hours today grinding old two stage coating off my basement floor. I needed to wear a dust mask but never stopped to clean my glasses. I don’t know if it can be better and still get down and grind. I think the better improvement would be on the odd size hose connection it comes with.

Grinds like a angle grinder should. Safety is number 1, if you are not handy, this is a very powerful tool. I use it when I am redoing rust spots on my car, this one even works beret than my old corded one. This grinder comes with a pair of lithium batteries and a charger. this charger even has a USB built in for keeping my phone or noise cancelling Bluetooth earphones fully charged. The batteries can be used in my other Makita products, can’t have too many batteries!! I always “Test drive” new tools, so I don’t ruin my project, and it worked better than I thought. Everything fits in the carry bag. There is even more room for extra blades, goggles, and mouth dust cover.

This is a 7” grinder. The kit comes with 2 batteries, a dual battery charger, storing bag, 2 grinder guards (slicing/grinding), a handle, a wrench, slicing wheel, and grinding wheel. This tool is very powerful for being battery powered. Don’t be fooled by the fact that it is cordless. This is a 36V tool and therefore 2 batteries must be installed at the same time in order to be able to power the tool. Full charging of the batteries takes approximately 50 minutes. The slicing wheel guard has a quick release feature for moving the guard around for different cutting angles. The handle can be installed in both sides. The tool weighs approximately 13 pounds with batteries and ready to go. There is a printed arrow on the tool to match diamond blade rotating direction. The tool comes with an automatic speed change. What that means is that the tool will auto adjust its speed based on the loading condition. Awesome tool too have around the house if you do any steel, concrete or other kind of heavy duty cutting activity.

The Makita dust shrouds are great additions to your grinder for concrete grinding. I removed the divider from just inside the vacuum port to increase the suction also, now I can grind virtually dust free. Just make sure the vacuum you are using has a good hepa and bag or self cleaning filter.

I rigged out a spray nozzle ahead of the disc, parts from water drip bin in the lawn irrigation dept.. It’s primary use is to control dust from being airborne and lubericate the work surface. The blades last longer and very impressed how smooth it cuts the surface. Would recomend 100%.
