The Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Impact Driver (model XDT11Z, tool only, battery sold separately) delivers power and speed in a compact size for a full range of driving and fastening tasks. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion series, the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18-Volt LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside. The XDT11Z features a Makita built 4-pole motor with variable speed (0-2,900 RPM and 0-3,500 IPM) that delivers 1,460 in./lbs. of MAX Torque. At only 5-3/8 in. L and 2.8 lbs. (with battery, sold separately), it has a compact and ergonomic design with less weight for reduced operator fatigue and a rubberized soft grip for increased comfort on the job.

I am not using a drill to drive screws ever again. This thing is great for driving screws. Just pay attention to what you are doing, It can probably bury the head of a screw into the entire depth of a 2×4. I also used it for smaller bolts when working on my car. Much faster than a socket! I highly recommend this driver.

I put this to good use right away assembling a shed and it has been great. Well worth the money. If price wasn’t an issue, I would have gone with a Makita with larger batteries, but the 2.0 Ah did just fine as I used one and charged the other.

Used it this weekend to build a large work bench. After driving 100+ 3” deck screws, it still had plenty of power left over. I previously used a makita drill/driver for this and it would have used up its larger battery entirely. This is much more suited to my application and works fantastically
