Makita has a legacy of innovation in the cordless impact driver category and the 18-Volt LXT Brushless 4-Speed Impact Driver (XDT16Z) sets new standards. The XDT16Z offers users 4 speeds, as well as Makita’s exclusive Quick-Shift Mode for increased fastening control. Quick-Shift Mode uses the brushless motors electronic controls to find the best balance of speed and torque for each application for more efficient fastening. Another precision setting is Tightening Mode (T-mode), which downshifts and reduces rotation and impact speed prior to driving the screw into place and is engineered to minimize screw thread stripping, screw breakage and damage to work. The XDT16Z delivers industry-leading performance in a compact and ergonomic design. Added features include the 1 touch 4-speed power selector button under the chuck, which enables 1-handed speed changes and reverse rotation auto-stop mode which stops rotation and impact when the fastener is loosened adequately to help prevent over-loosening and dropped fasteners. Its part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt LXT system, the worlds largest cordless tool system powered by 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries. Makita 18-Volt LXT batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. This bundle also comes with E-01351 Impact XPS 2-3/8 in. Magnetic Insert Bit Holder and E-00773 ImpactXPS #2 Phillips 2 in. Power Bit, 3-pack.

It said it was new but it was Open Box item. But it was better than my old one.

I like these cross bits, but not to there fault, cross bit screws just don’t hold up. These bit do grip very well, but you have to take it slow.

Really powerful compact drill and good made material.

These bits fit well in my Ryobi impact driver. There is not a lot of wiggle in the bit and hold secure. The tip shape is good for a variety of phillips bits. The length is sufficient. They seem to drive screws without slipping. The only negative is that the thin shaft does not allow a spare bit to be held in the spare bit clip on my driver. Definitely does not affect performance.

Although it can be a bit cumbersome to pick the correct setting, overall the tools is well built and light. I would buy it again

Get more life out of these than the cheapies. I go thru enough bits.

For me it was either the Makita XDT16z or the Milwaukee “Gen 3” impact. I ordered both, and used them both for just about a week. The Milwaukee has more raw power, but the makita has better ergonomics, and a more controlled power, it’s an over all smoother feel while using it.. the makita power isn’t far behind at all, the power difference is not very noticeable at all during typical work. I returned the Milwaukee, and will be keeping this makita!

Drill itself is great. But I think home depot Sent me a used or returned item. Their was debris on the drill from being used. Highly disappointed in Home Depot as I paid for a new product. Would reconsider buying online from Home Depot from now on…

Used fo build a shelf unit for my new shed. I’ve always been cautious about this type of design for an impact. It’s been holding up to some pretty amazing abuse so far. Don’t know if it’ll do 90x other impact bits though. Marketing ploys I guess. One thing that is kind of an issue for me at least is these are not magnetic and even if you have a magnetic collar they do not transfer it to the screw. The heads fits tight though which is an plus and leads to less screws being dropped.

Recently I had an opportunity to evaluate Makita’s Impact XPS #2 Phillips bit. Like the Makita power tools I’ve used over many years, the XPS bit appears to be made with precision and quality in mind.Although that narrow shaft (with the Makita label) looked like a potential weakness, it didn’t introduce any noticeable flex and feels very solid and rugged. The length of the bit significantly diminished the holding power of my magnetic bit tip holder, so much so that it would only pickup a 1-1/4″ screw with very gentle movements (I tried this with sheet rock screws and Simpson Strong-Tie screws).Despite that limitation, I was impressed with how well the bit held onto the screw even when positioned vertically. I attribute that performance to the relatively snug fit between the bit and screw head. An unexpected benefit of the reduced magnetic attraction between the screw and bit is that the driver bit never pulled out of the magnetic bit tip holder, an issue that has frustrated me when using typical stubby bits. The excellent fit between the bit and screw also ensured a straight screw insertion every time.Overall, I give the Makita Impact XPS #2 Phillips bit a solid 4-star rating and have made it my new go-to bit for driving #2PH fasteners.
