Makita has a legacy of innovation in the cordless impact driver category and the 18-Volt LXT Brushless 4-Speed Impact Driver (XDT16Z) sets new standards. The XDT16Z offers users 4 speeds, as well as Makita’s exclusive Quick-Shift Mode for increased fastening control. Quick-Shift Mode uses the brushless motors electronic controls to find the best balance of speed and torque for each application for more efficient fastening. Another precision setting is Tightening Mode (T-mode), which downshifts and reduces rotation and impact speed prior to driving the screw into place and is engineered to minimize screw thread stripping, screw breakage and damage to work. The XDT16Z delivers industry-leading performance in a compact and ergonomic design. Added features include the 1 touch 4-speed power selector button under the chuck, which enables 1-handed speed changes and reverse rotation auto-stop mode which stops rotation and impact when the fastener is loosened adequately to help prevent over-loosening and dropped fasteners. Its part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt LXT system, the worlds largest cordless tool system powered by 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries. Makita 18-Volt LXT batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. This bundle also comes with E-01351 Impact XPS 2-3/8 in. Magnetic Insert Bit Holder and E-00773 ImpactXPS #2 Phillips 2 in. Power Bit, 3-pack.
- Quick-shift mode uses the brushless motors electronic controls to find the best balance of speed and torque for each application for more efficient fastening
- BL brushless motor delivers 3,600 maximum RPM and 1,600 in./lbs. of maximum torque
- 4-speed power selection (0 RPM to 1,100 RPM/0 RPM to 2,100 RPM/0 RPM to 3,200 RPM/0 RPM to 3,600 RPM and 0 IPM to 1,100 IPM/0 IPM to 2,600 IPM/0 IPM to 3,600 IPM/0 IPM to 3,800 IPM) provides precise fastening control for a wide range of applications
- Additional 1-touch 4-speed power selector button under the chuck for added convenience
- Assist mode (A-mode) feature helps eliminate screw cam-out and cross threading by driving at low speed until tightening begins
- 2 tightening modes (T-mode) for faster tightening of self-drilling screws in thick or thin gauge metal, helps prevent damage to the screw or workpiece
- Reverse rotation auto-stop mode stops rotation and impact when fastener is loosened adequately
- Built-in LED lights on both sides helps eliminate shadows and illuminate a larger area
- Compact and ergonomic design at only 4-9/16 in. L
- Weighs only 3.4 lbs. with battery (battery not included) for reduced operator fatigue
- Efficient BL brushless motor is electronically controlled to optimize battery energy use for up to 50% longer run time per charge
- BL brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the BL motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life
- Electronically-controlled BL brushless motor efficiently uses energy to match torque and RPM to the changing demands of the application
- Features Extreme Protection technology (XPT) which is engineered to provide increased dust and water resistance in harsh job site conditions
- E-01351 – Provides convenient pick-up and retention of fasteners
- E-01351 – Engineered to allow the torsion section of the bit holder to flex under load, taking pressure off of the bit tip for increased durability in high torque applications
- E-00773 – Precision machined tips, pulse torsion rings, an optimized torsion zone and unique steel, combine to deliver improved overall performance and bit life
- E-00773 – Lasts up to 90X longer than standard impact bits

My favorite impact driver. Plenty of power for most uses, and a great deal of control and feel. The lights are bright and well-placed.

My husband used these so I guessed they worked. By this statement I mean that he did ask me to take back. Find something better. They did the job!

Its small but prfect with power and precision. One of the best impact drivers of 19 and 2020.Marc Mez (set designer)
Lillian Crooks (verified owner) –
Very strong, with a “just right” tip
Bernhard Tremblay (verified owner) –
These are strong, do not rust, and are easily inserted and removed

Great impact driver. Had to keep the setting on 2 (out of 4) while driving 3 in deck screws because they were driving too fast.

Awesome impact, this has lots of power. I switched over from the rigid platform and I’m so glad I did. I’m waiting for quarter 2021 to get the new hammer drill flagship.

I like Makita tools and this one been very helpful with me. However I chose the wrong product. I thought it was an impact wrench but it turned out that it is an impact driver. Huge mistake and differences because it’s useless with high torque applications which is the main reason why I bought it.

Really good quality .works great good value !!

This tool is a beast, and massive overkill for the home usage case. I love it. Used it for a complete rotor and pad replacment brake job and still had a full battery indication with the 5.0 Ah battery.
Angeline Borer (verified owner) –
Last longer than the ones I have been using.

These bits work great! The two inch was just what the job called for! Used it the first time for putting up melamine closet shelves and supports. Started off stripping some screw heads, realized I was using cheap screws , changed to a better quality screw and no more problems!! The only thing I didn’t like about the product was it would not transfer the magnet in the tip holder to the tip!

Great

Ok, the fit is better than my Dewalts, and they are not wearing anywhere as fast as the Dewalt P2 bits. You have sold me. I’m going to get some more of these Makita bits to replace all my Dewalt bits.

I am a loyal Milwaukee tool brand customer but after coming across these Makita Impact XPS Phillips #2 Power Bits I was amazed at how well they performed as opposed to the bits that I have been using for the past several years. While I will remain a Milwaukee tool guy, I know that my new bit of choice will NOW be a Makita XPS. It performed far better than the variety of #2 headed screws I am carrying around. I have used it on drywall screws, deck screws, and even on smaller screws to install 3 ceiling fans/chandeliers this weekend. The construction of the bit looks far superior to all the others I am carrying in my tool bag bit box. The features that I thought caused it to out perform the rest was the angle of the PH2 bit tip and the flex design. Have not stripped a screw yet with this bit. If you are looking to buy one type of PH2 bit that can handle a variety of job demands, in my opinion this is your best option. It is definitely the one for me. Cheers!
