The Makita 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2 in. Driver-Drill (model XFD10Z, tool-only, battery sold separately) delivers power, performance and superior ergonomics in a compact size, with an efficient 4-pole motor that delivers 480 in. lbs. of MAX Torque and 25% more speed than the previous model. It’s part of Makita expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion series, the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18-Volt LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside. The XFD10Z is built with an all-metal 2-speed transmission (0-600 RPM / 0-1,900 RPM). It has a compact and ergonomic design with less weight and superior balance for reduced operator fatigue and a rubberized soft grip for increased comfort on the job.

The Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2 in. XPT Drill/Driver is just simply the best in reliably, cost, life expectancy. Obviously you have to be the person who knows how to care for their tools. I wish I had two.

This drill was to replace a 15+ year old Makita drill that is very similar. I decided to replace it as the batteries were getting near the end of their life and the run time had dropped. It makes no sense to by Makita batteries at 2/3 the cost of a new kit and I have not had good results with after market batteries. This drill has excellent balance and good power. I have several other drills but this is the one I use the most. I am a remodel contractor and give my tools a lot of hard use. My only complaint is that as the drill gets older, it is more difficult to get a tight grip on a drill bit in the chuck. I also like the hard shell case.

This is the third one of these I bought but not because it needed to be replaced. I bought them as gifts to my son and brother in-law. A wonderful product.

Drill handles well, has a good feel to it while you’re working. I haven’t used it extensively but on the holes I drilled it worked fine. The driving power seems pretty good too as I had to drive several 2-1/2 in. screws. The driver drove the screw all the way in to the wood up to the screw head but it wouldn’t screw it beyond the wood surface facia leaving it just a glitch above and not flush. An electric drill motor would have driven them in ALL the way but I’m not comparing this Makita to a drill motor. I think it performs a little better than I expected and would recommend it. The work light distracts more than it helps because the light beam is obstructed by the chuck and causes a shadow. I may end up just putting a piece of electrical tape to cover the light. All-in-all, I gave it a 4 star……nice drill, you’ll like it!

I love my drill! Really comfy hold & easy to change out bits one-handed, due to my disability. I get through many projects on a full charge.

Works great

My old cordless drill was 20 years old. This one certainly performs better. Lighter, more power and charges faster. It took a few tries to get the chuck tightened down enough so the drill bit didn’t slip, but since I learned that there is a ratcheting system in the chuck I have not had any problems.

A little dissappointed that new batteries don’t fit all of my older majors tools Not sure what the difference is. Works on sander but not on my percussion drill

This drill is light weight, smaller than most standard drills, able to use in tighter spaces, and easy to control, but has the same power as my equivalent Ryobi, and Dewalt. Good price. I purchased this drill after using one at work, and liked the feel of it. I would recommend this drill for home, and or work!

Solid Drill. Powerful and easy to use. The light on the drill is actually really useful when assembling things. Batteries charge in less than 30 minutes. Very powerful drill for the price, highly recommend. I was replacing a Dewalt drill and I like this better overall.
