Love the sub compact design combined with the durability of Makita and the versatility of the 18V system. This saw was easy to grab a hold of and I even was able to use with one hand on a few of the cuts.

I haven’t put it to serious test at work yet, but at home it’s already proven itself… powerful for something so wonderfully compact, so far it seems to be a great value for the money. Safe to say size doesn’t always matter (-;

Lets first start off by getting out the way the fact this is “sub-compact tool”. It’s not a beast compared to other more powerful tools. This one is meant to be more compact, rather than powerful. I have the sub compact drill and impact driver. Neither of them are super powerful but theyre enough for what i use them for. They’re compact and light and i LOVE that. That being said, i needed a more powerful impact for those random times i need to drive a thicker screw into a stud for mounting a tv to the wall for example. I saw this on sale, noticed it had more power than my impact driver, i figured the only times I’d need “more power” would likely be when driving a lug nut type screw. I took a chance and went with it. Decided to try it for the first time while mounting a tv onto a stud and wow! Yes this has way more power than the standard driver. It didn’t struggle at all. Drove the lug nut right in. I wish i knew exactly how thick it was. I’m sure you can imagine. Very impressed. Very light. Only a centimeter longer than my driver which is crazy considering how much better it performed. I’m nothing close to a pro, very much a DIYer. I doubt i’ll ever use this to tighten lug nuts on a wheel, but who knows, I’m confident itll handle it

I was in the store looking for a tool to trim up thorny rose bushes and a lot of other overgrown shrubs, bamboo This tool was labeled 2018 HD innovative tool of the year but is about $30 more than older model Makita sawzall. I decided to give it a try with my 3 amp-hour battery. I’ve also purchased a Diablo 12” pruning blade as this tool comes with no blades. The sawzall employs a no-tool method to attach the blade. It seemed at first the blade was a bit wobbly. I couldn’t find anything in the instructions regarding this. After a few more tries this was the best I could do. So away I went and the sawzall did a fine job. But I did notice this sawzall is not a light weight tool. Women will definitely need both hands to control this tool. It does have the feel of a well built tool. Makita has their own factories but no doubt this was made in China.

My 5th Makita drill! It’s not that they wear out or break, far from it. I had 2 when I lived in Alaska but sold them because we moved overseas. Now that we have moved back to the US I’ve bought 3 more. I have 7 cordless Makita tools. They’re reliable and always get job done.

Lightweight, easy to use. Drawback, do not use this drill for something that requires an impact drill (lag bolts, mechanical). This drill is for light duty, personal use. The clutches will break if used in commercial use.
Simeon Pfeffer (verified owner) –
This drill is compact, powerful and interchangeable high ah rating batteries having star rating. I recommend this unit for any home / shop usage.

I’d been looking at this tool for a while. I’ve got the bigger single battery version and have loved that for a couple years. I watched the video on AvE where he tore this down. The tool even impressed him! When you need a reciprocating saw for this tight spaces, this is your tool. If you were to only buy one for those occasional jobs, this would suffice for sure. Just buy it already…
