The XHU02Z has a Makita-built motor that delivers 1,350 SPM and a 22 in. blade for increased cutting capacity. The XHU02Z will run up to 120 minutes on the low setting on a single charge using an 18V LXT® 4.0Ah battery (sold separately). Cordless technology also means lower noise, and at only 87 dB(A) the XHU02Z is 25% quieter than other cordless hedge trimmers. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.

We are very pleased with the trimmer! Being a short middle aged woman, with a tall hedge it was easy to use and handle. We were able to trim the hedge in less time and it looked much nicer than in the past. The unit was able to cut through 1/4″ branches with ease and the battery lasted beyond just the trimming of the hedge that surrounds the backyard … well over 2 hours of use. It is a bit awkward trying to hold the dead man switch with one hand while depressing the lock button and switch with the other hand when trimming over the arbor, but the two handed hold is understandable for safety reasons.

Lighter, lasts longer and seems to be better built than the Kobalt trimmer it replaced. Any jams work themselves out, unlike with the Kobalt product. Used it over 2 days and still had 2 out of 4 lights left on the battery. Very happy with the purchase so far!

Great hedge trimmer for all trimming needs around the yard. I have read other reviews that state the cutting capacity gets bogged down at 1 1/2 inch branches? it is not a chainsaw it is a great trimmer.
