The Makita 18-Volt X2 LXT Hedge Trimmer (model XHU04PT) is powered by two 18-Volt LXT batteries (36-Volt), so you get 36-Volt power and run time for corded and gas-powered demands, without leaving the 18-Volt LXT platform. Model XHU04PT is a kit and includes 2 fast-charging 18-Volt LXT 5.0 Ah batteries and an 18-Volt Dual Port Charger that will charge 2 batteries simultaneously for increased productivity and less downtime. The XHU04PT Hedge Trimmer has a 25-1/2 in. blade and the Makita-built motor delivers 1,800 SPM for increased cutting speed, but with less noise (only 86.5 dBA. It has zero emissions and reduced maintenance: there’s no engine oil to change, no spark plug to replace and no air filter or muffler to clean. And there’s no need to drain the fuel for storage. Simply pickup your XHU04Z, load two 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion batteries and the trimmer is ready to use. Additional features include a 2-handed operation switch is engineered to activate the motor only when the switch and top handle are engaged, an electric brake for maximum productivity and more. I’ve had the trimmer for under a month but in that time ive used it a total of about four hours. The weight of the trimmer is pretty well distributed. The pivoting trigger section makes for easy use in places like, between the house and shrubs or on a ladder. The unit has more than enough power to serve my needs and the battery life is awesome. I don’t have anything bad to say about this trimmer

I used it for the first time Yesterday on the waist high hedges. Cut like a knife in butter. I was very impressed with how sharp those blades are and the length was great. The 24″ length blade mean you are not bending over as much. There is a little bit of weight with the batteries but I would stop and take a five minute break if my shoulder were tired. So far it is worth the price because having to run 120′ of extension cord for my old hedger was a nightmare. Spend the extra money and get the battery ones.
