The Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Plate Joiner (model XJP03Z, tool only) provides portability and performance in the field or in the shop, without the cord. The XJP03Z combines power and precision with ease-of-use features for strong and accurate biscuit joints for furniture making, cabinet construction and fine woodworking applications. (note: battery and charger sold separately) It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion series, the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18-Volt LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the Star Symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside. Home Depot needs to carry the 5A Battery in their stores and not have to order off their website. This battery is so much better than the 3A Batteries they carry in their stores. The physical size of the 3A, 4A & 5A are all the same. Given that fact, why not get the Battery that will last the longest.

Couldn’t recommend the 5.0 Ah batteries more. Although they are heavier- suck it up, it builds muscle ;). I love that I can count on the quick charge time and how long each battery lasts. Depending what tool, I can go 2-4 hours on one battery using constantly. I now have three of them and watch for deals. I couldn’t be happier.
