I purchased this product for my husband! It is amazing! He loves the tool and the blades that come with it. This brand is usually his go to!

Works as advertised. Only tool on the market I’m aware of for this specialty purpose. The cut is very narrow and little dust is generated. What dust is made, the clear plastic containment device captures most of it. The tool is also surprisingly lightweight. I used it mostly for straight cuts. If I had a complaint, it would be that if you were seeking to make a detailed cut for say an outlet box, you aren’t going to get an accurate look of the blade beneath the flat tool surface and do you will probably use other means.

This is a great cordless saw for drywall work.I bought this Makita 18V LXT Cordless Cut-Out saw to demo a bathroom to reduce the amount of drywall dust I kicked up. I connected the saw to my Porter Cable drywall vacuum and the dust collection of the saw is incredible! There was no dust and I was able to quickly cut away the drywall to expose behind the wall. The depth of cut is easy to figure out (uses an included hex wrench) and the saw is not too heavy and is balanced (even with my 5AH battery installed).I like that this Makita saw has a battery meter at the base so I can tell the charge remaining for those batteries I have that don’t include a battery gauge. The LED light throws enough light on the cut area where there is a notch on the base. By cutting the scrap drywall, I wanted to save it to use to adjust my Makita 18V drywall screwgun so I can practice getting the screw depth set just right when I begin installing the drywall.I will eventually use this saw to cut access behind my bathroom shower to get to the mixing valves. I will be able to do that without making a mess and not cutting into any pipes.Right now, this saw is only sold as a tool-only. I would like to see it also sold as a kit with a Makita hard plastic kit box so I can safely store it (and spare blades and batteries) when moving it around job sites.

I love this thing. Does what it says. I wish there was more room around the dust port. I’m using a rigid shop vac and it’s too big but fits over and the suction keeps it on there.

Awesome tool. Mitigation crew uses this tool a long with the HEPA vac to keep the job clean plus the customers love seeing it used.

Excellent machine; however, Home Depot does not sell the sanding sheets so had to purchase elsewhere. It would make sense for Home Depot to sell the related products.

Unit does a fantastic job at dust containment. Moreover, the safety of the adjustable blade penetration is great. It hardly leaves a mark on the studs and does not touch anything deeper (believe me, I’ve hit a water line install just below the surface before, and this unit provides a real sense of security). Easy to use and connects to a vacuum line with no problem.Makita has a winner in this tool! I have already recommended it to everyone I know who works with drywall.

Performance wise this would get a 4/5. This makes cutting sections of drywall a snap. What surprised me was the dust collection, even with no vacuum attached this did a great job of collecting the dust inside of the clear dust box. I used this on my 5/8″ drywall and it had no issues cutting it, very comfy grip and following my mark was simple due to the V guide on the front of the base. Due to the base you will not be able to get into corners or close to the wall with this which is why the performance lost a star.Outside of the performance the design and ease of use would be a 2/5. The issue with this tool is not the performance but the poorly designed setup. My main issue is the blade. You grab a cordless tool for one main reason , convenience , setting up and breaking it down is not that convenient at all. There are no micro adjustments for the blade depth so to raise and lower it you will have to remove the dust box, whip out the allen wrench and loosen one or both of the screws and hope that you guessed correctly when you made your adjustment. Then the measurements are in MM instead of inches so you will have to do some conversion to start in the vicinity that you need. This comes with only one blade, I feel that since this uses a specialty blade it should come in a 3 pack set, even a 2 pack set would be ideal as this is a blade that is not sold in stores so replacing it the same day is out of the question. There is a protective boot , for the blade when it is not in use ,that you can store on side of the tool but chances are after a few uses it may get lost. I would highly recommend removing the blade after each use for that reason, to protect it since you will have to order replacements. I would love to see this utilize a rack and pinion just like the router for micro adjustments, if this had that it would definitely be near perfect. The dust port moves which is good as it allows you to connect a vacuum with no problem. This ran pretty quietly when I used it, I think the loudest it got was 80db. I used this on a mockup 5/8″ drywall and it cut very well and let the edges of the drywall smooth. When using this, I suggest doing a plunge cut , similar to a plunge cut with a circular saw. I found that it worked best when I rested the back end of the base on the workpiece as I brought it up to full speed and introduced the blade to the wood, while maintaining the back of the base onto the workpiece

tool works awesome, just listen for nails or screws while cutting and save yourself the price of blades, hopefully those will come down soon, also would be nice to see vacuum attachment recommendations to hook up. But the tool works flawless. Great product, Home Depot needs to carry replacement blades though.Rob

The tool itself is excellent, cuts out drywall quickly and easily and dust free if you’re using proper dust collector. The blades unfortunately are too thin and snap immediately if a screw or nail is hit and to make matters worse they are not readily available (must be ordered on line) $10+ each.
