Makita known for outstanding and dependability tools made in Japan. I put them head to head for quality and reliability as tools made in the USA. This 18″ lawn mower is equipped with a commercial steel deck for years of use. Coupled with its 3 year warranty on the the unit and batteries, makes it one of the best warranties in the cordless lawn mower line. Comes with 2 extra 18 volt batteries wired in series that makes this mower 36 volts. Has many more attributes that make it, in my opinion one of the best, if not the best cordless lawn mowers in the industry. Comes with two additional 5Ah batteries for backups if needed. Boast a 45 minute quick charge on the batteries. Has 10 cutting heights with ease of adjustments from 1-10. Has a Folding handle that takes up much less space in storage. The grass catcher holds up to 16 gallons of grass clippings and the mower can be utilized as a mulcher if designed. Backed by Makita’s XPT (extreme protection technology)……meaning it was engineered for harsh cutting conditions such as in dust and wet conditions. The motor is brushless and delivers 2500 to 3300 RPMs for a very quiet operation. This mower packs a punch just as powerful as a gasoline mower. YOU WON’T DESTIRUBE YOUR NEIGHBORS NO MATTER WHEN YOU CUT YOUR LAWN!

This is my first cordless mower and I was a bit nervous that it wouldn’t perform well or would go through batteries too quickly. I don’t have a large lawn, but the first couple times using it, I had to mow through pretty thick sod that had just been installed and was pretty long in spots. On the highest cut setting, it went through the grass like butter. In some spots where the grass was a little thicker and longer, the motor increased its RPM automatically for the tough spots. Wow.Overall, it’s really quiet and it’s not too heavy for a push mower. The batteries last a good amount of time and with 4 packs, it would be difficult to run out of power. I’ve never gone through more than half of 2 batteries when mowing the whole lawn. There’s even enough left over to pop the batteries into the string trimmer and do the whole lawn on one charge.

As I have said in my other Makita reviews, they know how to do it right! The build quality of this machine is second to none. The control panel is easy to use with a power on / off, battery indicator and a nifty quiet mode selector. The motor when operating in normal mode automatically adjusts to the amount of power needed to cut thicker or taller grass, when in quiet mode the motor stays the same speed without any noticeable loss of cutting performance. To start the mower is a 3 step process. First press the on / off button, secondly depress the red button on the right side of the handle and then pull the bar on tom to engage the blades. You can either catch the grass with the included bag or insert the plug into the rear of the deck and turn it into a mulching machine. The 18v system is a proven platform and its nice to be able to use the same batteries for my tools and yard machines. The only down side I have found is the bar that engages the blades has a strong spring that can become tiring on your grip if you mow for a long period of time. This may not be an issue as the spring breaks in over time. In short I will probably never go back to gas powered lawnmowers.

The Makita 18 inch -18 volt lithium cordless steel walk behind lawnmower is a perfect size for me. It is lightweight and easy to handle. I have found it easy to handle , clean and store. The handle is adjustable and has 3 settings. The handle also folds down easily for storage. There are several height adjustments so the lawn can be several heights. The mower also comes with 4 batteries and a deluxe charger. I love using it and highly recommend.

Excellent lawnmower! I was hesitant to move to a battery powered mower but got this to replace my 15 yr old gas mower, and it has exceeded all my expectations in terms of crisp grass cutting quality and quietness! I have a small yard – just over 1/10 an acre, so it takes about 20 minutes to mow the lawn. This lawnmower’s blade cuts through the grass incredibly quickly and makes a clean crisp cut. The mulch attachment is behind the mower rather than on the side, so you can mow right up to various landscape features on either side of the mower – very convenient! I found it easy to back up and U-turn it throughout the yard, as well as to push up and down the slightly sloping areas I have. The batteries are more than sufficient battery life wise. Quick push-button to start, and then I mowed the whole lawn… still had all four bars of juice showing at completion. This lawnmower comes with two settings- quiet energy savings and normal. Both are far quieter than a gas mower, I can mow at dinner hour without bothering the neighbors and I can hear my podcasts without turning my earbuds way up like I used to with gas 🙂 Also, the mower deck doesn’t heat up at all – so once I was done I took it directly to the garage without needing to cool down. The wheel adjustment lever is great – one simple lever that controls all 4 wheels – efficient and guarantees all wheels are on the exact same height… the mower has 10 different heights to choose from. Putting it together only required four simple screws and a couple clips for the cords – all included – it took less than 10 minutes and the instruction were very clear (yea!). The handle has a soft grip on the bar – never really thought about my old one just being a metal bar until I got this and it is a nice feature. Finally, just FYI, I prefer to mulch, but this mower also comes with a really nice quality bagger attachment if you prefer to collect your clippings.

Makita 18in Battery MowerThis 18 inch rechargeable battery push mower from Makita has a metal deck. It is a little heavier than a plastic bodied battery mower I have used, but the metal mower deck is very sturdy and should last. It rolls very easily, but is not self propelled, so is great for flatter yards, There is a single convenient lever that controls the mowing height of all four wheels. However, the adjustment only allows for a very short 15/16” to 2-15/16” height – there is no way to mow longer than 3 inches with this mower. This mower comes with a two-battery charger, and four batteries. The mower requires two 18V batteries (36V) to run, so it is great to have the spare pair charging while you are using the other pair. Currently I get well over 30 minutes mowing time per pair of batteries even with late summer thick grass. The mower is powerful, and seems to cut better than the gas mower it has replaced. The batteries do have indicator lights to show their charge level, but also the power switch bar on the handle also has indictor lights for both batteries so you can see the remaining charge from the handle (a very nice feature). The mower can be used in mulching or bagging mode, and has a “plug” that clips in to close and fill the discharge area for mulching. When that is removed, the bag easily clips on the back of the mower for bagging clippings. It does not have a side (or rear to side) discharge chute. I think it should come with a side discharge chute option. One nuisance I’ve found is with the batteries. They clip in easily, but the latch on the battery in my opinion does not have a large enough “lip” or finger grip to be able to grip it when unclipping the battery and pull it off easily. When you squeeze the clip to release the battery, there is not much to hold on to to pull it off. I often have to use two hands to push the battery out when unclipping each one. Overall, I like that it is relatively quiet for a mower, and I’m generally very happy with this push mower.

Since I have received this remarkable lawn mower, I was amazed how easy it is to use. The mower has various speeds based on the thickness of lawn plus you can either mulch or bag the clippings. Batteries are very powerful plus you can watch when they have to be recharged. Every feature that is described about this lawn mower is true. I like this lawn mower. I have had this lawn mower about two weeks and it meets all expectations.

I have a large yard but had plenty of battery time with the 4 batteries provided. Liked how quiet it could be yet it automatically changed to higher speed when it came to thicker grass.I am very happy so far.

Flawless easy power, quiet sound, super cheap cost of operation and zero gasoline!!! I bought a Leaf blower that works with same battery pack. I will get a trimmer and power drill to compliment the suite. Only criticism: this mower is not sold in HD stores. Delivery fee was not free at $45, so I opted to pick up in local store. But even so, because it is vendor supplied I was unable to use a HOME DEPOT 15% off coupon. That was a drag.
