The 18-Volt LXT lithium-ion Cordless Cut-Out Tool Kit (model XOC01T) is a powerful and efficient solution for drywall contractors, with the cutting performance and power of a corded tool but without the hassles of a cord. It delivers 30,000 RPM for fast cutting and has a slim body design for improved comfort. The 18-Volt LXT 5.0Ah battery provides 35% more run time per charge than the 5.0Ah battery (BL1850), yet it charges in only 45-minutes the fastest charge-time in the category for less downtime and increased productivity. For added convenience, the battery features an integrated LED battery charge level indicator. Its part of Makita expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion system, the worlds largest cordless tool system powered by 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. I have used all kinds of batteries for multiple brands and systems but none of them compare to the 5a. The star protection keeps you going through the whole job. One 5a battery all day or multiple 3a batteries throughout your day? You decide but I’ll take only one battery for the job any day.

This batter was bought to replace the original battery that quit after two charge phase. So far this one has taken one charge and is working OK. But the original battery went to Makita for replacement and I haven’t received the replacement yet. I would rate higher but so far I am seeing a 25% failure and that is not accecptable.

Home Depot needs to carry the 5A Battery in their stores and not have to order off their website. This battery is so much better than the 3A Batteries they carry in their stores. The physical size of the 3A, 4A & 5A are all the same. Given that fact, why not get the Battery that will last the longest.
