The 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion 1/2 in. Hammer Driver-Drill (model XPH03MB) delivers a full 750 in. lbs. of MAX Torque, with more work and less down time for increased efficiency and productivity. It’s powered by the Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion 4.0Ah battery, which reaches a full charge in only 40 minutes and delivers 35% more run time than the 3.0Ah battery (BL1830). For added convenience, the battery features an integrated LED battery charge level indicator. For increased durability, Extreme Protection Technology (XPT) is engineered inside the tool for increased resistance to water and dust and improved operation in harsh jobsite conditions. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion series, the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18-Volt lithium-ion slide-style battery. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18-Volt LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

Great over all drill.

Unit is very heavy, and somewhat cumbersome. The forward & reverse switching is very bad. I would have expected more from Makita, and for the price. I already had a Makita charger, and batteries, therefore I stuck with the same brand when shopping for this drill.

I like the fact that is has mini light on the chuck to see in those tight places. This a replacement for a drill stolen.

This is a replacement for the original Makita drill that failed. It is much heavier than expected.I am disapointed that my previous battery does not fit this Makita tool.

Excellent buy, goes through wall like butter. Real power begin this bad boy. I had to grind bigger holes on my chassis and it was breeze. Overall I’m satisfied with this machine.

The first drill I bought 13 years ago finally died. I’ve bought 3 since then. Both burned up in less than a year. Hopefully this one will last. DON’T BUY BRUSHLESS, They suck.

Loved the idea that I could replace my old loyal Makita with the same exact drill without having to buy the case, charger and batteries!

The drill performed really well, my installer associate wouldn’t let me have a turn

Tried drilling a hole in concrete with my regular Makita 18v drill/driver & got no where. Picked this hammer drill up and literally it was like a knife through hot butter. Highly recommended.

I have used Makita for years. This is a great all purpose drill.

Purchased this because I’m a big fan of all my other Makita products. You can make the BL 1815 batteries fit this hammer drill by simply cutting a slot in the battery to allow the small metal tab it sticks out underneath the drill to pass through that Slot in the battery. If you try to slide the BL 1815 battery in and bump it several times against that you will see exactly where it is hitting the battery and what is preventing you from using that battery. BL 1830 offers some other upgrades or advances however I prefer not to spend $99 when I already have 2 Of the 18 V BL 1815 batteries

I bought this as a replacement to my LXFD01. This is a little heavier but the power is there. Already used it to put together hard maple cabinets no problem, drilled anchors in concrete no problem. My main problem is with Makita not stating that the BL1815 battery would not fit. You would think that it would as it is listed a 18 volt product. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to make them fit. With a file ground a small groove in the battery pack so it would slip in, works like a charm. I have 4 BL1815 batteries and did not want to give them up.Overall this drill has lots more power with a little more weight but still easy to use and manageable size for tight places. I recommend this drill to anyone. If it was not for the battery, I would have rated this much higher

Price was a little high for tool only. Operated as intended

Got this Makita hammer drill for a mini split install, which required drilling holes for the line set and electrical disconnect. My 1950’s home wall layers are 3/4 perforated gypsum board lath (cement-like), insulation, more lath and then solid brick. The line set hole was done with a 3.5 inch masonry hole saw (with 12 inch extension), the electrical line to the disconnect was done with a Bosch 3/4 hammer drill bit. Have to say this Mak ate it all up. Haven’t tried it in concrete yet, but very happy with it. Comfortable to hold, solid, steady and really good power.

This drill replace the old heavy Bosch 18v. Need to use the handle attachment other wise it will twist your both hands.

Bought this to drill holes for screw anchors in a concrete slab after finding that my non-hammer drill wasn’t up to the task. The hammer function made it a breeze!
