The 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion 1/2 in. Hammer Driver-Drill (model XPH03Z, tool only) delivers a full 750 in. lbs. of Max Torque and 18% more speed, yet it is more compact and weighs less than the previous model. The XPH03Z has the torque and speed that contractors demand and it is engineered for increased resistance to water and dust. For drilling and driving, Makita has delivered a total solution. (battery and charger sold separately) It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion series, the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created star protection computer controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18-Volt LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

Great drill for my use. Much power allowing me to put a large drill bit in the chuck.

More power than expected. I like it.

Purchased what was probably the previous version of this unit and used it continually for almost 14 years. It broke last week and I replaced it with this one which I expect to work for another 14 or so years. Includes Drill mode, Screw driver mode, and Hammer Drill mode. Also has 2 speeds.

Tried drilling a hole in concrete with my regular Makita 18v drill/driver & got no where. Picked this hammer drill up and literally it was like a knife through hot butter. Highly recommended.

I bought this and used it for two projects now. One Project was for driving bolts with a Socket to assemble a cover for my deck. I then drilled some holes in a concrete slab to place a shed. The Drill stopped working. The lights come on, the battery drives another drill so its not that. It just stopped. I also didnt like the fact the Battery didnt come with it and I found out the low profile batteries for my other Makita drill set will not fit it. Seemed kind of deceptive. I am replacing the drill at Home Depot tonight, I will see how the next one performs.

I bought this hammer drill/ driver to replace a similar model that appeared to have a defective clutch, I was in the middle of a deck job and did not have time to have it fixed so I bought this new unit and plan to have old one repaired. This drill is powerful as a hammer drill and driver, well balanced and speed is controlled with trigger pressure. I just hope the clutch last longer than my last one and I think it will because I can see a design change.

Excellent buy, goes through wall like butter. Real power begin this bad boy. I had to grind bigger holes on my chassis and it was breeze. Overall I’m satisfied with this machine.

I’ve used this for Tapcons, cabinet builds and pre drilling hardwood and it performs as good as my corded hammer drill.

Bought a combo kit about 4 years ago and use it almost daily. The XLT drill works great overall. It’s high torque allows for drilling studs and joists with a 7/8″ self feeding wood bit. There are some times when because of the number of holes or the hardness of wood I still need to grab my my corded hole hog drill. It’s not good for drilling out a whole house but great for smaller projects. I did melt the internal part of the plastic trigger once with very heavy drilling. It’s a pretty good one size fits all drill since its light and I do a lot if switch and plug installation. Just bought another non-XLT version of the same drill. It’s even lighter and still drills studs and joists. The batteries hold up well. I’ve charged them hundreds of times if not a thousand and they still work pretty good although one went bad recently during the 5 Degree cold spell. I’ve owned 3 of the chargers and each of them give off a heavy arc when plugging them in. Not sure why they haven’t fixed that. The head of the drill eventually got to where I have to spin it 180 degrees before it would lock in place to install a bit. I often wonder why people buy the cheaper off brand drills. It would be better to go without a drill for a while, save up for nicer one and buy a drill that’s enjoyable to use and really packs a punch for power.

Great over all drill.

Bought this to drill holes for screw anchors in a concrete slab after finding that my non-hammer drill wasn’t up to the task. The hammer function made it a breeze!

I like the fact that is has mini light on the chuck to see in those tight places. This a replacement for a drill stolen.
