The Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Planer (model XPK01Z, tool only) combines the speed and capacity of a corded planer with the convenience of cordless. The result is fast and accurate stock removal, without the cord. This tool is part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion series, an extensive cordless tool line-up powered by an 18-Volt lithium-ion slide-style battery that offers an exceptionally fast charge time. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls, which allows the STAR-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can be powered by any Makita 18-Volt LXT and compact lithium-ion batteries displaying the star symbol.

I read lots of reviews before buying this kit and I could not be happier with my choice. This little router is a beast. Using a full round bit I did 20 feet on the corner of 3/4 ” maple plywood. I could move the router as fast as I wanted, no sign of a power lag, absolutely love this router.
