It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion system, powered by 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries have fast charge times, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18-Volt LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the Star Symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside. This bundle also comes with 194368-5 55 in. Guide Rail and 194385-5 Guide Rail Clamp, 2-pack.

Great invention works like described.

Looks good and works well. For the money the rail clamps should be included

This track was not available at stores in my area, so I ordered it online. In reviews, people were complaining on receiving those with transportation damages, like either being bend or untrue. So I ordered it be shipped to store, so I could inspect at pickup desk in store. Everything turned out fine

I’ve had the Makita track saw system for about a year now. I haven’t used it much due to the fact that I have a panel saw in my shop. But it being recently sold I’ve had much more need to use this system with it’s guide rails for breaking down sheet stock. Having now had significant usage, I can knowledgeably put forward this review. I concur with one other reviewer on this website that the rails are not always consistent in their measurement tolerances which create problems in performance. Specifically the actual rail that the saw sits on can vary in width form rail to rail which creates problems getting mulitple rails aligned so the saw tracks smoothly from rail to rail. Makita’s manufacturing tolerances could certainly use some attention here. With the rails I have I had to do some filing of the guide track at the joining ends to get them to track smoothly and loosen the two knobs on the saw base that adjust tension on the track. Another very important thing I discovered is that your not likely to get a 90 degree cut if you adjust the blade to the saw base. To insure a 90 degree cut you must adjust the blade while it sits on the track. I did this by laying the track on a flat piece of sheet stock and securing it with clamps made to fasten underneath the rail( accessory purchase), letting one end hang off farther than the other so you can set your saw in it’s track . Be sure your batteries are removed for safety and adjust the blade to cut to it’s full depth. Then while holding the saw in it’s depressed cutting position with one hand you can hold a square underneath the track with the other hand to check for a 90 degree track/blade angle. Angle can be adjusted by turning the two screws up or down that are located underneath the saw base. It probably took me a good 30 minutes or more to do this as its a trial and error process, but very necessary if you want accurate square cuts. Your not done yet ! You can’t assume that the the two rails will be perfectly straight when butt joining them together. You may need to leave a very slight gap between them to allow for slight adjustments to get an accurate straightness. Once I put forth all these efforts I was able to get a pretty nice straight 90 degree cut.

Guide rail was straight and true, using these rails to trim doors makes the task easy peasy.

Great system. Once you use it you wonder why you didn’t get it sooner.

Certain things not quite to the festool quality, like the insert in the case, this is just a cheap plastic tray instead of molded foam, and no dust collection bag. But saw is a great value and the motor and batteries have great power! Would absolutely recommend.

cut straight as discribed

Track was straight and saw glides with ease!

Sold a little bit older version of this saw that I have had for a while. Got a Festool cordless track saw, great saw. After having tried both tracksaws decided to buy this Makita saw kit again, has very good power. Glad to have it again for in the field work.

Worked as designed, recently broke left arm and currently still doing physical therapy strength and mobility are not 100%. Needed to break down about 5 to 6 sheets of 3/4 plywood, I have a table saw but with the left arm not 100% using the track saw was great to break down the sheets

I bought two 55″ guide rails and a connector kit to go with a cordless track saw. Either rail is excellent on its own and makes it super easy to rip a straight line – far better and easier than a circ saw with an edge guide. The 5 star rating is for one rail on its own, definitely excellent. However, when putting two 55″ tracks together to rip a full sheet of ply I found it pretty tricky to get them straight / square. The aluminum portion of the rails is just slightly different in width and the ends are just a teeny bit off square. That teeny bit gets exaggerated over 55″, and l found that I could easily be off a straight line by 1/32″-1/16″ from the seam of the two rails to ends of a rail (bow or bulge in the middle). Tried reversing the connected ends, and the error would just move the opposite direction. Placing a 4′ straight edge along the back of the rail to align, leaving a slight gap between the rails, then tightening both connectors helped (I used the two connector pack), but it is really challenging for me to setup in a straight line along the full length of the two. I’m guessing I got rails from two different manufacturing runs and a little bit of bad luck. If you aren’t worried about that kind of precision or don’t mind the work to get there, then putting two rails together is the cheaper option (and more portable) to a 118″ rail which runs triple or more the cost of one 55″ rail. Not sure if I want to return one track and get a 118, or just got through the trouble of adjusting/rigging the end-to-end 55s each time I need to rip a long sheet.

The saw works very well. I get a much cleaner cut than I did with a traditional circular saw.

This works very well. Wish I bought it sooner.

I purchased the saw that came with 39 in. guide rail and purchased additional 55 in guide rail. The saw is super smooth on 55 in. guide rail. But with 39 in. guide rail, the saw’s motor gets hot after 3 cuts (less than 15 in. each cut). I could feel the heat when my hand was holding handle. I really need to PUSH through the 39 in. track. I could feel quiet strong friction/resistance. I cleaned the track and the saw, it didn’t work. Then I switched back to 55 in. track, there was no heat after 10 cuts. VERY SMOOTH. I tried adjusting those knobs,I loose them all the way, the saw felt a bit better, but it swings left and right on the track. I don’t even want to try to connect two rails even if it works. I don’t want to adjust knobs in the middle of cuts between two tracks. Oh, I purchased the connector too. So what should I do, Makita?

I use these tracks with both my track saw and my router. Fine precision and quality. Quick delivery too.
