The Makita 18-Volt X2 (36V) LXT Brushless 6-1/2 in Plunge Circular Saw Kit (XPS01Z, tool only, batteries and charger sold separately) delivers precise and more accurate cutting when combined with an optional guide rail system (sold separately). The saw and rail system work together to produce accurate cuts with minimal tear-out. The saw combines a powerful Makita-built brushless motor powered by two 18-Volt LXT batteries with automatic speed change technology, which adjusts cutting speed and torque during the cut for optimum performance. The saw has a variable speed control dial (2,500 – 6,300 RPM), with soft start and an electric brake for added convenience. It has a large 2-3/16 in cutting capacity at 90°, with a bevel capability of -1 to 48 and positive stops at 22.5 and 45. When used with a rail system (sold separately) the plunge circular saw is a more portable option to a table saw for select applications, and is ideal for use on the job site or in a workshop. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created star protection computer controls. Star protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18-Volt LXT and compact lithium-ion batteries with the star symbol indicating star protection inside.

I couldn’t be happier with this track saw. Great quality in materials and a smooth, straight cut made my project shine. Pricey but all things considered, a great product.

WOW!!! This 18-Volt 5.0Ah X2 LXT Lithium-Ion (36-Volt) Brushless 6-1/2 in. Plunge Circular Saw Kit1 is amazing. There is, however, a real learning curve to master in order to enjoy all it’s many features. At first glance, it appears to be a fancy circular saw. Not so. A plunge saw has a different design which removes the need for a conventional retractable blade guard, as the blade is enclosed within the machine. This ensures multiple benefits versus the traditional circular saw including:-The blade can be plunged at any point into the material you are cutting.-An enclosed blade is safer and significantly improves dust extraction efficiency.. -The saw has a smooth and flat side that can be used as a guide against a wall or the floor.-Depth of cut can also be adjusted with a simple sliding mechanism at the front of the saw.The biggest and most important difference with the plunge saw however, is the ability to run it along a guide rail or track. This is especially useful in cutting large panels in confined areas. It takes 2 18 V batteries to run. When you take your finger off the trigger, the blade stops immediately. There are so many features we have not explored 1/3 of them. The case it comes in is remarkable in itself. Well thought out design adding to the easy portability of the product. Another great Makita tool system

I had been eyeing track saws for a while and finally took the plunge with this model. Found this kit on discount with an additional free 2x batteries so it seemed like a no brainer. In testing I’ve found the saw to perferm just as well as corded versions. Cuts are smooth and the batteries seem to last a long time. I especially like the anti tip feature and while a riving knife would be nice I have yet to encounter any kickback. A note on the track.. I had seen some reviews where users complained about straightness of the track. My particular track seems to be straight and flat. All in all happy with this kit for the price I paid. I find myself using the table saw less and enjoying this saw more and more.

This is the only track saw/plunge saw I have used, but I have use corded and cordless circular saws and wormdrive saws. Although it seems like just another circular saw, it’s almost a completely different type of saw. The closest I could compare it to is using a circular saw with a guide. With careful use I would say you could get similar results, but with a track saw it’s so much easier and more consistent. For one there is no measuring for the offset from the edge of the shoe to the blade, once the track has be trimmed on it’s first use it’s place the track where you want the cut, place the saw on it and cut. The saw glides effortlessly on the track compared to a circular saw. When using a guide with a circular saw and an appropriate blade the cut quality looks the same. What I like this for is to making accurate cuts and doing it with minimal effort and fuss. Now a circular saw for me is relegated to rough cuts and framing type cutting. A track saw/plunge cut is more for trim/finish work and craft/project/furniture making stuff. The saw comes with a case for the saw and for the charger that can be stacked and locked together. They feel like brittle plastic that will crack if dropped, but nice to have a case for the saw. I have also experienced how much nicer it is to have a cordless saw, and this one has all the same benefits. Like other cordless saws I have it has a soft start and brake which i really like. But I am going to guess it is not as powerful as a corded one. But for the cuts you would use this on I don’t think it’s much of an issue, you could make multiple cuts instead of one deep cut. The overall construction of the saw is nice but does not have the rugged feel of most circular saws. Again the plastic feels lower end, but I don’t see this saw getting the same treatment as most circular saws. All the adjustment on the saw are clearly marked and easy to use. The saw only needed minor adjustment so it did not wiggle on the track. Everything else was looked to be set square out of the box.Another surprise was how quiet this was compared to all the other saws I have used corded and cordless. The shop vac was louder. Nice added bonus I was not expecting

Cuts through 1 3/4 inch wood like hot knife through butter. Track kept cut exactly where I wanted it. Great saw. Would prefer an imperial depth of cut scale!!

This track saw is awesome I will be buying the longer track next and the batteries charge pretty quickly

Saw has great runtime, power, speed, and precision. Includes a fantastic blade, making each cut a finish cut. Geared toward finish carpenters and wood workers, but would also serve most home owners better than a standard circular saw.

Lots of power, slides smoothly on the track, light weight, cuts plywood and hardwood like butter and with almost no tear out with the supplied blade.

As a rule, Makita tools don’t disappoint me. I chose this track saw over the Kreg because of the brand name, and I’m already into other Makita cordless tools so I have the batteries. I chose it over Festool because of price.I have a 10 inch inexpensive contractor table saw 4 large stock and some kinds of Rip’s, but I bought the track saw for cabinet and Furniture building. It makes very clean accurate cuts. I rated it 4 instead of 5 because I’ve not been able to find they dust bag that fits it for those times when I gots collector is not convenient. It seems like a no-brainer for a cordless tool.

This was an awesome saw!!! I brought it to my maintenance people and they were so excited and said it sped up their work and the optional guide was more helpful that without it for the work they were doing. The case made it easy to store and move to other locations for various projects. It did not have any issues running it off and on all day. My team loves it.
