The Makita 18-Volt X2 LXT (36-Volt) Brushless 1-1/8 AVT Rotary Hammer is a cordless concrete solution that’s loaded with advanced engineering for maximum efficiency. Its powered by two 18-Volt LXT batteries and an efficient brushless motor for maximum power, speed and run-time for corded demands, without the cord. X2 LXT technology delivers up to 140 in. x 2-3/8 in. holes per charge when using two 18-Volt LXT 5.0 Ah batteries. for reduced vibration, its equipped with Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT). More than just a padded handle, AVT is an internal counterbalance that uses air pressure to move counterweight pistons in the opposite direction of the drive piston to actively reduce vibration. In addition, the vibration-absorbing back handle and side handle further reduce vibration. The result is a low vibration rating of only 9m/s, but with no compromise in performance: The efficient brushless motor delivers a full 2.3 ft./lbs. of impact energy, with 250 RPM to 980 RPM and 0 BPM to 5,000 BPM. The torque limiting clutch is engineered to prevent gear damage by automatically disengaging the gears if the bit binds, and constant speed control automatically adds power to the motor to maintain speed under load to complete the most demanding jobs. Additional performance features include a electric brake, variable speed dial, built-in LED light, and a retractable tool hook.

It has so much power and last so long, of course it is new. But my son has Makita and they have worked good for him for a long time, that’s why I switched to Makita.

This batter was bought to replace the original battery that quit after two charge phase. So far this one has taken one charge and is working OK. But the original battery went to Makita for replacement and I haven’t received the replacement yet. I would rate higher but so far I am seeing a 25% failure and that is not accecptable.

Home Depot needs to carry the 5A Battery in their stores and not have to order off their website. This battery is so much better than the 3A Batteries they carry in their stores. The physical size of the 3A, 4A & 5A are all the same. Given that fact, why not get the Battery that will last the longest.

Couldn’t recommend the 5.0 Ah batteries more. Although they are heavier- suck it up, it builds muscle ;). I love that I can count on the quick charge time and how long each battery lasts. Depending what tool, I can go 2-4 hours on one battery using constantly. I now have three of them and watch for deals. I couldn’t be happier.
